“FOR GREATER GLORY” SHADOWS MODERN TYRANNY

For Greater Glory is a memorable, important movie. It vividly and dramatically demonstrates that people have to fight for their freedom.

The movie takes place in 1920s Mexico. Power hungry President Calles is trying to shut down all the churches. Calles was president at a time when Mexico went through a series of socialist dictatorial leaders, as did Argentina and several other Latin American countries.

Right at the beginning of the movie, President Calles refutes the Pope and calls for draconian restrictions on the church. For example, he bans vestments in public, foreign priests, cassocks, and so forth. He tells his cronies that he will enforce this with an iron fist. He proceeds to send the Federales to shoot innocent people in churches, to hang and execute priests.

All over Mexico, a resistance starts. It’s called the Cristeros. They are noted for their commitment to Christ. A few of them are priests. Using Ecclesiastes 3:8, they argue with their fellow priests there’s a time for war and a time for peace, and that they must stand up for the Church of Jesus Christ. Eventually, enough of them gather together that they can hire a former general named Enrique, who’s not a strong believer.

the irony of this film this year is what happened about 90 years ago in Mexico is happening here in the US. both Mexican President Calles and US President Obama declared war on Christianity most specifically Catholicism. by declaring war on Catholics Obama has declared war on all true Christians for there is "one holy catholic and apostolic church". this church includes my Protestant, Catholic, and Orthodox brothers.

For those of you who view this as a "Catholic" film, it is not. The movie is an account of true events which occurred in Mexico during the early 1900's when the Socialist/Bolshevik President created a Constitutional amendment to suppress repress "freedom to worship" and banned priests from wearing their religious attire in public. It is a well depicted account of how an errant socialist anti-Christian government moves into tyranny upon the lives of the common man to the point those common people push back in full-blown rebellion except a few self-centered cowards. The government war upon those who rebelled is unbelievable and disturbing: hanging rebels from trees, telegraph poles, shooting them point blank, stabbing them to death… men, women and children. Every freedom loving American should see this movie but many…if not most…will not because they'll be told it is a "religious/catholic" movie. It's about a runaway government imposing it's personal socialist ideology upon the masses by removing their freedom and liberty or put them to death.
