When Barack Obama first ran for President in 2008, people asked if he was a Muslim.  The left went nuts that the question was even asked and the media rushed in to assure us, without any supporting facts, that Obama was a Christian.

Now something has come up that is making people question whether Obama is a Muslim or not.

Is Barack Obama a Muslim?  Does it matter?

I have never subscribed to the theory that Barack Obama was a Muslim, at least not a practicing Muslim.   There is no doubt that his stepfather was a Muslim and Barack Obama spent part his school time in Indonesia studying as a Muslim student.  He admits as much in his autobiography, saying he got in trouble for making faces in Quran classes.  He also was able to recite the Islamic call to prayer in what New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristoff, in Arabic with a “first rate accent.”

Now, Jerome Corsi, who wrote the blockbuster “Unfit for Command” about John Kerry in 2004 has now written about Barack Obama and has reopened that question.

In a column in WND.COM, Corsi took a long look at Obama’s wedding ring.  On that ring, he discovered Arabic script for the first phrase of the Islamic Declaration of faith which beings, “There is no God but Allah.”

Corsi interviewed experts who said that kind of jewelry would be worn by someone with a close connection to Islam.

Given that Obama studied Islam as a child, it is hard to believe that he does not know what the script would mean.

Does it matter whether or not Obama is a Muslim?

Liberals become mortified when the question is even asked.  They react in horror with the memory of 1960 when John F. Kennedy was asked whether he or the Pope would control American policy.

John F. Kennedy was our first Catholic President.  The question was a fair and legitimate question.   Kennedy also answered the question and put the issue to rest.

Is Obama a Muslim?

I don’t know. I’m not a mind reader.  He certainly is not a Christian.

Does it matter?

It actually does.

All Muslims may not be our enemies but all of our enemies are Muslims.  We live in an era of an aggressive Islamic resurgence.  There are calls for a world wide caliphate and even calls that American rights that offend Muslims be curtailed, lest we offend them.

Americans are entitled to have a President who has his undivided loyalty to the United States of America.  Some Muslims believe it is their duty to work to establish an Islamic state.  Some believe in the strict applications of Sharia law.

Barack Obama’s beliefs are fair game.  As he said, a President’s life should be an open book.  Unfortunately the drive by media shows no interest in asking the hard questions that need to be asked and don’t expect them to be asked anytime in the next month.
