Dinesh D’Souza’s Movie with Glenn Beck on GBTV

Indian immigrant, Dinesh D’Souza, has already been denounced as a “Rightwing radical extremist lunatic.” The pitfall for his detractors will be in refuting what he presents in this biography as anything other than the truth. All of the information is well known to those who researched Barack Obama, but not known to the general public. He does not go into the politics that have been shaping the Democrat Party for the last century, but confines himself strictly to the man that is leading the nation.

Following the election of Barack Hussein Obama to be the forty-fourth President, D’Souza, President of King’s College in New York, decided to go on a journey of discovery about the man that the media touted as “a new kind of politician.” Having heard members of the media just before the election discussing how little they knew of Barack Obama, of his past, his upbringing, his basic beliefs, his ideas of what change he wanted to bring to America, and seeing the changes President Obama wrought during his first year in office, Mr. D’Souza decided that Americans needed to know whom they had elected to lead them and where he would take them. Biographies of this sort are usually made before a man is elected to the presidency.

From the father he did not know, to his growing up in Indonesia as Barry Sotero, to living in his grandparent’s home in Hawaii, D’Souza follows Obama’s upbringing and the people who shaped his beliefs. He follows Obama through college and into the political arena with the help of the men with whom he associated to fortify and bring to fruition those beliefs.

While the entire film is riveting in completeness of detail and presentation, among the most interesting were the words from Obama himself and his half-brother, George Obama, in Kenya. His brother describes his opposing view of how colonialism shaped the third world and how the opinions of their father shaped each of them. As a presidential biography, D’Souza’s film reveals the man that the majority of Americans do not know. The man behind the “Hope and Change” that would bring about a “fundamental transformation of America” is the man who will be seeking re-election this November to continue leading America down the path he has chosen.
