Watch: Former President Obama Finally Says Goodbye, But Not Before Giving One Last Speech

President Donald J. Trump has taken the oath of office and Obama is now an ex-president. The party is over for Obama, but he had to give one final speech at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland before departing to Palm Springs, California. At the base, he said his goodbyes to his former staff (via The Hill):

Speaking at Joint Base Andrews shortly after the swearing-in ceremony, Obama’s address was uncharacteristically brief and at times echoed the populist tone of Trump’s inaugural speech.“It was met sometimes with skepticism and doubt,” Obama said about his journey the White House. “Some folks didn’t think we could pull it off. There were those who felt that the institutions of power and privilege in this country were too deeply entrenched. And yet all of you came together in small towns and big cities and you decided to believe.”

“Throughout this process, Michelle and I have just been your front man and woman,” he continued. “We have been the face and the voice out front on the TV screen or on the microphone. But this has never been about us. It’s been about you.”

Here’s the 44th president finally leaving:
