Traitor Chelsea Manning To Be Released, And We Get To Pay For His Sex Change!

Traitor Chelsea Manning, formerly known as Bradley Manning, is set to walk free from Fort Leavenworth’s military prison on Wednesday, after the 28 years left on his original 35-year sentence was commuted last-second by former President Barack Obama. Manning was charged and convicted with sharing hundreds of thousands of classified United States records with WikiLeaks.

And, bonus, taxpayers still get to foot the bill for his sex-reassignment surgery, since Manning maintains his full health benefits via his unpaid active duty status. USA Today reports:

While Manning’s court-martial conviction remains under appeal, she will remain a private in the Army, said Dave Foster, an Army spokesman. As an active duty soldier, Manning will continue to receive health care and have access to commissaries and military exchanges, but she will not be paid.

In 2013, Manning, while still behind bars, decided he was actually a female and announced the start of his transition to the public. Of course, with the trans declaration came a lawsuit; the criminal was denied access to hormone therapy. In 2015, the U.S. Military capitulated to Chelsey’s demands to pay for the transition treatment.

Manning also “went on a hunger strike last year before the Army agreed to provide her with gender-reassignment surgery,” notes Heat Street. According to The Military Times, such a treatment, which can cost upwards of $50,000, will be paid for by the government, AKA taxpayers.

Manning, who reportedly attempted suicide twice in prison, said via a statement last week that prison was particularly difficult due to “nearly seven years of bars and cement, of periods of solitary confinement, and of my health care and autonomy restricted, including through routinely forced haircuts.”

Manning’s attorney said the leaker suffered “unthinkable violence throughout the seven years of her incarceration,” as “far too many people in prison, particularly transgender women” do.

“Manning’s support network, which raised about $138,000 in online donations to help cover her initial living expenses in a GoFundMe.com campaign, has said she eventually intends to settle in Maryland, where she has family,” reports The New York Times. “But her supporters have also been secretive about where she will be for the next few weeks, hoping to give her mental and physical space — and safety — to adjust.”

American Civil Liberties lawyer Chase Strangio, who represented Manning in a suit concerning his alleged mistreatment in prison, explained that Manning’s alleged “traumas” won’t end when he walks out as a free man.

“I look forward to working with her in the coming days and weeks to provide her with the support and stability she wants and needs to heal and plan out the next stages of her life,” said Strangio. “The traumas of the past few years will not simply evaporate when she walks out of the prison.”

During the 2016 presidential campaign, President Trump blasted Manning as an “ungrateful traitor” when it was learned that Obama had commuted the remainder of his sentence. Manning “should never have been released from prison,” declared Trump.
