On the first anniversary of the Boston jihad bombing, where in broad daylight on a busy city street teeming with humanity Americans were blown to bits, with three killed and close to three hundred injured, Mayor Bill de Blasio shut down the New York Police Department’s counter-terror surveillance program in New York City.
At a time when the global jihad is raging, and New York remains the number one target for jihadist savages and has already been the target of scores of jihad plots, our new mayor is standing down, surrendering to leftist and Islamic supremacist forces that care much more about political correctness than they do about protecting New Yorkers.
Mayor Bill de Blasio said during his campaign that he would not allow surveillance of jihadi suspects and terror mosques, and now he has made good on that promise. He has done so even though two New Yorkers were charged with plotting jihad terror attacks as recently as last October. And since 9/11, there have been plots against the Brooklyn Bridge, the subway system, the Stock Exchange, Citigroup headquarters, the Garment District, the PATH train, JFK Airport, Long Island Railroad, synagogues in the Bronx and Manhattan, Times Square, and more.
De Blasio has a great deal to hide: he has had a number of aliases and name changes. And it’s not surprising that he would want to cover up his past. He has aided the brutal communist Sandinistas and the Palestinian jihadists, although he has scrubbed that information from his website. He even supported the bloodthirsty President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe.
During last summer’s campaign for mayor of New York City, I warned of de Blasio’s pro-terror allegiances. I submitted an ad to run on New York subway platforms, noting that de Blasio “partners with vicious terror-aligned foes of Israel” and that “he’ll endanger New Yorkers by stopping counter-terror surveillance programs,” among other points.
New York’s enemedia didn’t like it: read this vicious New York Daily News news story on my ad. Meanwhile, a de Blasio spokeswoman called my ad “hateful and offensive.” What exactly was hateful and offensive about it? When he became mayor, de Blasio did exactly as I had predicted. And as he announced that he has disbanding the NYPD’s counter-terror program, he vowed to go after the “real bad guys.”
Who does he think the “real bad guys” are? Does he share the Obama administration’s concern over “right-wing extremists?” Or does he think that the real bad guys are the hardworking horse-and-carriage tradesmen? He has rooted them out and banned the subversive practice.
New York far-left Palestinian activist Linda Sarsour of the Arab Association of New York spearheaded the effort to get de Blasio to end surveillance of Muslim communities in New York. She didn’t have to work very hard: de Blasio was on board at the beginning and was photographed smiling happily with Sarsour at a rally last summer.
Did de Blasio know then what investigative journalist Ryan Mauro has reported about Sarsour? “The Arab American Association of New York and its Executive Director, Linda Sarsour,” said Mauro, “lists the Qatar Foundation International second on its website’s list of supporters. The Foundation is linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, including the Hamas-supporting Sheikh Yousef al-Qaradawi and the Islamist-allied Qatari government.”
The monstrous irony of all this is that if it had not been for the ongoing disarming and dismantling of counter-jihad programs at intelligence and law enforcement agencies, the Boston Marathon jihad bombing could have easily been thwarted. The U.S. government was given a heads up, a warning about the jihadist Tsarnaev brothers: the Russians told the FBI that Tamerlan Tsarnaev was a “follower of radical Islam and a strong believer,” and that in Dagestan he had tried to join “underground groups,” i.e., jihad groups. That should have been enough for the FBI to keep Tsarnaev under close surveillance.
But the feds dropped the ball. Did law enforcement officials monitor the notorious mosque, the Islamic Society of Boston, where the Tsarnaevs attended? It was founded by Abdurrahman Alamoudi, who is now in prison for financing al-Qaeda. Other members have included Aafia Siddiqui, a jihadist who received an 86-year prison sentence for trying to murder American soldiers, and Tarek Mehanna, who is serving seventeen years for aiding al-Qaeda. Yet according to Robert Mueller, then-director of the FBI, the only contact that law enforcement officials had with this mosque was “outreach:” a euphemism for dawah and submission.
The human toll of the Boston Marathon jihad bombing is the price that we paid (and will pay again and again) for dismantling these counter-terror programs.
Sleep well, dear New Yorkers. And don’t worry your pretty little heads about jihad terrorism. As the buildings collapse in flames, you can console yourselves with the fact that at least you weren’t “Islamophobic.”
