Illegal Prisoner Exchange Damages our National Security

On May 31, 2014, President Barack Obama exchanged Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl for five high-ranking Taliban commanders in violation of the National Defense Authorization Act of 2014, a law the president signed in December 2013. Under this law, the president has to give Congress at least 30 days notice before releasing al Qaeda and Taliban prisoners in U.S. Naval Base in Guantánamo. Once again, President Obama has shown his blatant disregard for the rule of law and his intent to bypass Congress.

Who is Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl?

Bowe Bergdahl apparently went AWAL or deserted his army base in eastern Afghanistan on June 30, 2009. Shortly before he abandoned his post, Bergdahl wrote in an email that “the horror that is America is disgusting.” It is not clear whether he voluntarily joined the Taliban or was captured.

On June 1, 2014 National Security Adviser Susan Rice, who is used by the Obama administration to lie to the American public, stated in a Sunday interview with ABC the following: “Sergeant Bergdahl wasn’t simply a hostage; he was an American prisoner of war captured on the battlefield.” This was not true as the soldier deserted his post in a time of war. Defense Secretary Chuck Hegel stated, “there are still questions” about how he ended up in captivity. Hegel told NBC’s Meet the Press on June 1, 2014 in the Sunday interview “he’s been held by the Taliban, we’ve- we don’t know where, and we don’t know under what circumstances, for five years.”

Under article 25 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, “any person found guilty of desertion or attempt to desert shall be punished, if the offense is committed in time of war, by death or such other punishment as a court-martial may direct.” There are some in the military who feel strongly that the circumstances surrounding this sergeant released from captivity should be investigated, instead of welcoming him as a hero by President Barack Obama’s administration.

The London Daily Mail wrote an article on August 22, 2010 entitled “Taliban claims captured U.S. soldier has converted to Islam and is teaching its fighters bomb making skills”. The article explained that the captured soldier was training Taliban fighters in bomb-making and ambush skills, according to one of his captors and Afghan intelligence officials.

Sergeant Bergdahl has converted to Islam and now has the Muslim name of Abdullah, one of his captors told The Sunday Times. The article pointed out that Haji Nadeem, a Taliban deputy district commander, said to the newspaper that Bergdahl showed him how to dismantle a mobile phone and turned it into a remote control for a roadside bomb. Nadeem stated the following: “Most of the skills he taught us we already knew, some of my comrades think he’s pretending to be a Muslim to save himself so they wouldn’t behead him.” Afghan intelligence officials think that the soldier was “cooperating with the Taliban” and was acting as advisor to the fighters at a base in the tribal area of Pakistan.

The strange circumstances of his desertion should be investigated by the military. Only then, the military can judge whether the soldier violated article 25 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
Ceremony in the White House with the soldier´s parents.

President Barack Obama, while standing next to the soldier’s parents in the White House, announced, “On behalf of the American people, I was honored to call his parents to express our joy that they can expect his safe return, mindful of their courage and sacrifice throughout this ordeal.” Strangely, Sergeant Bergdahl’s father, Bob, spoke in a Arabic and said the following: “Bism allah alrahman alraheem.” The statement means “in the name of Allah, the most gracious and most merciful,” which are the opening words of every chapter of the Koran except for one. Allen West wrote on June 2, 2014 that according to former CIA officer Clare Lopez “by uttering these words on the ground of the White House, the father of the soldier sanctified the White House and claimed it for Islam. There is no question the president of the United States knows this.” Since the president is a hidden radical Muslim, I am certain he did not mind.

The former congressman and retired Lieutenant Colonel Allen West and former CIA officer Clare Lopez, together with high-ranking military, former CIA officers, and Roger Aronoff, editor of Accuracy in Media, were part of the Citizens’ Committee (CCB) on Benghazi that wrote a report on April 22, 2014 entitled “How America Switched Sides in the War on Terror.” The findings by CCB are very alarming. It stated that the war in Libya, which started in March 2011, was unnecessary and served no national security objectives.

The report pointed out that the United States assisted the Libyan Muslim Brotherhood and al Qaeda to overthrow the regime of Muammar Qaddafi, which was helping the United States in its fight against the War of Terror. It indicated that there were military assets nearby that could have saved Ambassador Chris Stevens, Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty two former Navy SEALs and Sean Smith, computer specialist, on September 11, 2012. Even worse, it pointed out that the Obama administration participated in the cover-up for two weeks working with the Muslim Brotherhood in the United States and the Organization of Islamic States, which is made up of 57 Muslim countries. There is no doubt in my mind, that all of these actions that involved President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are considered acts of treason, dereliction of duty, and criminal negligence.

The illegal prisoner swap damages our national security

gitmo 5 talibansPresident Obama’s exchanging this U.S. soldier, who may have gone AWAL, criticized the United States, and may have assisted the Taliban, for five dangerous and criminal Taliban commanders from Guantánamo Naval base, who sooner or later will begin killing Americans, is an outrage and another example of criminal negligence. The Taliban had repeatedly demanded the release of these five important commanders who are revered in jihadist areas.

Thomas Joscelyn wrote an article on June 1, 2014 entitled “Five of the Most Dangerous Taliban Commanders in U.S. Custody Exchanged for American Captive.” The article was published in the website Bear Witness Central. Joscelyn said that two of the five Taliban commanders were wanted by the United Nations for crimes against humanity after assassinating thousands of Shiite Muslims. The so-called “Gitmo five” are the following:

Mullah Mohammad Fazi. He was the Taliban army Chief of Staff and one of the most experienced military commanders. He is wanted by the United Nations for the murder of thousands of Shiites.
Mullah Norullah Noori. Like Mohammad Fazi, he is wanted by the United Nations for war crimes for the murder of thousands of Shiite Muslims. Since the mid-1990s, Noori fought alongside al Qaeda as a Taliban military general, against the Northern alliance. He continued working closely with al Qaeda in the years that followed.

Abdul Haq Wasiq. He was the Taliban deputy minister of intelligence and was involved in training members of al Qaeda prior to 9/11.

Khairullah Khairkhwa. He was the Taliban governor of the Herat province and former interior minister prior to 9/11. Khairkhwa was involved in many important missions for the Taliban leader Mullah Omar, including one secret deal with the Iranians. He was also a major drug trafficker and worked closely with al Qaeda. He allegedly oversaw one of Osama bin Laden’s training camps in Herat.

Mohammed Nabi. He was a senior Taliban official who served in multiple leadership roles. Like the others, he worked closely with al Qaeda, the terrorist Haqqani Network, and other terrorist organizations. Nabi coordinated weekly meetings, with al Qaeda terrorists to coordinate attacks against the United States Armed Forces.

Conclusion

The Taliban leader Mullah Omar celebrated the return of the “Gitmo 5” as a victory against the United States. President Barack Obama has once again endangered the security of United States since now terrorist organizations will want to kidnap Americans everywhere in the world to exchange them for important terrorist prisoners. The president has demonstrated once again his lack of understanding in dealing with terrorists. Or was this done deliberately and willfully? Perhaps President Obama wanted to assist the Taliban just like he assisted the Muslim Brotherhood and al Qaeda in Libya, Egypt, and Syria.
There is no question that the House of Representatives after a thorough investigation by the Select Committee on Benghazi needs to file impeachment charges for treason, crimes, dereliction of duty, and criminal negligence against President Barack Ob
