Poll: Americans Blame Obama for Illegal Immigration, Iraq, IRS Crises

A new IBD/TIPP poll finds that nearly 60 percent of Americans blame President Obama for the current wave of tens of thousands of illegal immigrants sweeping across our southern border, a wave that includes thousands of young children unaccompanied by adults.

Along with the question on immigration, the survey taken in late June asked a series of questions revealing that the Obama administration has taken a major credibility hit on such issues as the “lost” IRS emails and Obama’s foreign policy failures.

On immigration, the poll asked if the Obama administration’s policies are causing the current immigration crisis. A hefty 59 percent said that Obama is to blame for the growing crisis on our southern border, while 39 percent disagreed that Obama played a part in the mounting humanitarian crisis.

Enticed here by the Democrat Party’s talk of amnesty, tens of thousands of illegal immigrants have been arriving from Central and South America, attempting to gain entry to the country. Thousands of parents have sent young children, many pre-teenagers, on the road to the U.S.

The poll also found that “six in 10 say that the children should be ordered to leave the country.”

The news was even worse for the administration on the question of whether or not people believe that the IRS has “lost” the emails of its employees under investigation for the targeting of conservative groups. Respondents who said that the supposed loss of the emails is an attempt by Obama to “hide evidence that the IRS deliberately targeted conservative groups” totaled 65 percent.

Only 27 percent said that they thought the IRS legitimately lost the emails that Congress has been seeking in its investigation.

On the question of Iraq, the poll asked if respondents thought that Obama’s troop withdrawal from Iraq in 2011 led to the current terror attacks in that country. While 41 percent disagreed with that assessment, 56 percent said that Obama’s actions led directly to the terrorist attacks now paralyzing Iraq.

In a country as politically divided as the U.S. is today, these numbers show a mounting distrust of President Obama and his administration.
