FBI: ISIS EXISTS IN EVERY STATE. KERRY: WE ARE SAFER THAN EVER

isis arrestsIn recent years, the borough of Brooklyn has become known for many things; a culinary renaissance, an invasion of gentrifying hipsters, and a thriving music scene not least among them. On Wednesday, Brooklyn acquired a new claim to fame: Incubating aspiring ISIS terrorists.

“FBI agents arrested three Brooklyn men for allegedly attempting to travel abroad to join the terror group ISIS, with one man agreeing to kill President Barack Obama if ordered to, according to a criminal complaint,” read a report via a local CBS News outlet in New York City.

The trio had also discussed launching attacks domestically if they were unable to travel to join the terror group, authorities said.

Abdurasul Hasanovich Juraboev, Akhror Saidakhmetov and Abror Habibov face charges of conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists.

Back in the summer of 2014, Juraboev, 24, and Saidakhmetov, 19, had expressed support online for the establishment of an Islamic caliphate in Iraq in Syria, authorities said.

They went on to devise a plan to travel to Turkey and then Syria to wage jihad, authorities said.

That report includes the text of a communication one of these aspiring Islamic State martyrs allegedly sent to a contact via an Uzbek website. It is worth a read.

The arrest of these members of an ISIS cell in New York City certainly represents a victory for counterterrorism officials, but it isn’t the end of the war against fundamentalist Islamist militants. In all 50 states of the Union, federal officials are reportedly monitoring suspects with the desire to fight for ISIS.

“We have investigations of people in various stages of radicalizing in all 50 states,” FBI Director James Comey said during a winter meeting of the National Association of Attorneys General according to a report in The Hill. “This isn’t a New York phenomenon or a Washington phenomenon. This is all 50 states and in ways that are very hard to see.”

“ISIL in particular is putting out a siren song with their slick propaganda through social media,” Comey said Wednesday, using an alternate acronym for the terror group.

“Troubled soul, come to the caliphate, you will live a life of glory, these are the apocalyptic end times, you will find a life of meaning here, fighting for our so-called caliphate. And if you can’t come, kill somebody where you are,” Comey said, describing the group’s messaging.

The FBI chief said the message “resonates with troubled souls, people seeking meaning in some horribly misguided way.”

“Those people exist in every state,” he added.

And to think that it was only three weeks ago that the President of the United States was lamenting the fact that the American news media devoted undue focus to the threat posed by global warming and was too easily seduced by the overhyped dangers posed by Islamic terrorism. At last the FBI has their priorities straight.
