Hillary Clinton’s testimony before Congress about the attack on the US consulate in Benghazi ultimately proved two things: (1) as many suspected, Hillary lies, and lies often; (2) the liberal media is more interested in saving Hillary’s reputation and protecting her presidential campaign than reporting the truth to the American people.
The congressional panel led by South Carolina representative Trey Gowdy, gathered information pertaining to the scandal for 17 months. The committee also conducted 54 interviews and collected thousands of emails (which Hillary initially refused to disclose).
Clinton’s testimony lasted 11 hours. During this time, the former Secretary of State contradicted her previous statements and exposed herself like never before. In the following paragraphs I will delve into the lies and contradictions of Hillary Clinton.
After the tragic event in Benghazi on September 11, 2012, (which resulted in the murder of Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans), Hillary Clinton said on more than one occasion that the attack on the consulate was the result of a spontaneous protest due to an alleged anti-Muslim video posted in the United States. Interestingly, during her first comment at 10:08 pm that night, Clinton did not mention the word “terrorism”.
One hour and four minutes later, according to a detailed report relaying the sequence of events (published by Breitbart News), Hillary sent an email to her daughter Chelsea. The message read: “Two of our officers were killed in Benghazi by an Al-Qaeda-like group”
The next day Hillary Clinton sent an email to Hesham Kandil, Prime Minister of Egypt. The message said: “We know that the attack in Libya had nothing to do with the film. It was a planned attack-not a protest.”
A day later, on September 13, Hillary lied again and referring to the alleged video said, “Some seek to justify this behavior as a response to inflammatory, despicable material posted on the Internet”
As we can see, over a period of 48 hours Hillary Clinton made four comments on the events in Benghazi. In two of them, Hillary recognized the nature of the attack, telling the truth-to her daughter and to the Prime Minister of Egypt. In the other two, she decided to lie-to the American people-.
Despite the information provided to Chelsea and the Prime Minister of Egypt, Clinton, without shame, said in her congressional testimony that she still believes that the anti-Muslim video was responsible for the attack on the consulate in Benghazi.
Hillary Clinton not only lied to Congress and the country, but also to the families of the victims. The day of the funeral of the Americans killed in Benghazi, Hillary spoke with Kate Quigley, the sister of CIA employee Glen Doherty. According to Kate, Clinton said the attack began as a “spontaneous protest”
Another relative who spoke to Hillary Clinton was Patricia Smith, the mother of Sam Smith, an official of the State Department killed in Benghazi. Patricia was interviewed by Fox News after the testimony of Hillary and said: “She lies, very simple. She told me personally that was the video, Obama told me, Panetta told me, Biden told me, they all told me at the casket ceremony that it was a video.”
Clinton even said the following to Charles Woods, father of another victim in Benghazi,: “We are going to have the filmmaker arrested who was responsible for the death of your son”
Michael Ingmire, Sam Smith’s uncle stated: “Hillary Clinton is a serial liar. Hillary Clinton really has a difficult time maintaining a consistent level of truth”. Michael even called Hillary “incompetent” and said she should not run for any public office.
Another important detail which came to light during the investigation was the fact that Ambassador Stevens and others at the consulate had asked the State Department for security assistance more than 600 times. Unbelievably, Hillary Clinton chose to ignore the requests of the ambassador for months.
During her testimony Hillary tried to evade her responsibility for the security of the consulate. Regarding the multiple requests from the ambassador, Clinton lied again and said: “I did not see, I did not ordered, I did not denied them.” Hillary Clinton also said the ambassador felt “comfortable” on the ground.
If the secretary of the Department of State has nothing to do with the security of US consulates around the world, who is? If Ambassador Stevens really felt “comfortable” in Benghazi why did he ask for help more than 600 times?
Hillary deliberately lied, just hours after the terrorist attack, and weeks, and months and years later. So did President Obama, Vice President Biden and several other representatives of the administration. The Benghazi attack was much more than a catastrophic security failure of the U.S. consulate in Libya; It was a massive, unprecedented administration cover-up.
Despite the overwhelming evidence of Hilary Clinton and the Obama administration’s irresponsibility, the liberal media continues to distort the history of Benghazi and deceive the American people. It is clear, liberal Democrats are interested in the truth only when it concerns Republicans, even at the cost of American lives. If Hillary Clinton were a Republican, her political future would already be sealed. For now, we can thank the liberal media for sending her on her way towards the U.S. presidency.
