After GITMO prisoner promises to “kill Americans,” Obama immediately does this

Obama-shut-guatanamo-executive-orderSeven years into the Obama presidency, one thing is pretty clear: this president values his own ideological agenda over the safety of the American people he’s charged with protecting. There are many examples of this — such as his push for an increased influx of refugees from terrorist hotbeds even as he blocks efforts to screen them in a process that’s already full of gaps.

Another shining example is Guantánamo Bay. The president continues hellbent on his plan to shut the prison down before he leaves office and has been steadily purging the place of dangerous detainees in order to meet his own aim. Among the highlights  is the former GITMO prisoner Ibrahim Qosi, released in July 2012, who has now resurfaced as one of al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula’s leaders. This former GITMO prisoner is now making himself useful by preaching “individual jihad,” encouraging attacks by individuals and smaller terror cells. Remind you of anything, like perhaps the San Bernardino attacks?

The latest prisoner to be freed under the president’s current prisoner release bender didn’t wait to inform us of his post-GITMO plans. Guantánamo detainee Muhammad Abd Al Rahman Awn Al-Shamrani, 40, promised openly that he’ll “kill Americans” if released. So, of course, Obama’s Pentagon announced Monday Al-Shamrani will be released and transferred back to his home country of Saudi Arabia.

Of course.

Via Breitbart:

With the Monday announcement, Al-Shamrani became the fourth Guantánamo detainee released in 2016. U.S. officials determined him to be a “high risk” for recidivism, warning he would likely re-engage against the West should he be released from the detention facility. He also allegedly told guards at the facility that he would “kill Americans in Iraq and Afghanistan if released,” according to his leaked confidential file.

On January 6th, Al Qaeda-linked detainees Mahmud Umar Muhammad Bin Atef and Khalif Muhammad Salih Al-Dhuby were released from the Guantánamo Bay detention center. On January 8, Faez Ahmed Al-Kandari, another Al Qaeda-linked detainee who was suspected of working as a jihadi recruiter and expert propagandist, was released.

The four men are part of a group of 13 more detainees that that the administration will likely be released by the end of this month, according to reports.

According to leaked military documents, Al-Shimrani is an Al Qaeda recruiter who may have served as one of Osama bin Laden’s personal bodyguards. He was deemed to pose a “high risk” against the United States.

“If released without rehabilitation, close supervision, and means to successfully reintegrate into his society as a law-abiding citizen, it is assessed detainee would immediately seek out prior associates and reengage in hostilities and extremist support activities at home and abroad,” said part of his file.

The president continues to maintain closing GITMO is the path to making us safer. Anyone else scratching their heads on how releasing someone who promises to “kill Americans” is making Americans safer? He claims the prison is a recruiting tool for terrorists — but gee, I kinda think the guy who was released and is now preaching “individual jihad” may be a bigger recruiting threat. But hey, that’s just me.

He also claims cost and an “obligation to the next president” as compelling reasons — which we’ve call B.S. on here.

President Obama is expected to feature GITMO in tonight’s State of the Union (SOTU) address. I have a feeling that anyone playing a drinking game tonight — wherein one drinks anytime Obama spews B.S. — could be tipsy just from the GITMO portion alone.
