The father of former Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods, one of the four Americans killed by terrorists in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012, is challenging Hillary Clinton to a lie detector test to prove that she did not blame an anti-Muslim video for the attacks during private conversations with the victimsâ families.
âI would love to sit down with Hillary Clinton, if sheâd agree to do it as well, and at the same table by the same operator, have a lie detector test,â Charles Woods told One America News Networkâs Neil W. McCabe during an interview this week.
Besides Woods, three relatives of two of the other men killed during the onslaught have claimed that Clinton blamed the video, âInnocence of Muslims,â during a memorial service held on Sept. 14, 2012. She also allegedly promised to have the maker of the controversial film arrested.
âThereâs been four different family members representing three of the families that were victims, and they all said basically the same thing: that she blamed the attack on the video,â Woods told McCabe.
âShe said, âweâre going to have that person responsible for that video put in jail,’â he recalled, adding that Clintonâs comments âstruck me as being very strange.â
âIs this how you comfort someone?â
Clinton has denied in two recent interviews that she made such statements. She told ABC Newsâ George Stephanopoulos last month that she did not mention the movie during the conversations. And when asked in an interview with The Conway (N.H.) Daily Sun last month who was lying about the conversations, Clinton said: âNot me, thatâs all I can tell you.â (RELATED: Hillary Goes On The Offensive Against Benghazi Victimsâ Families)
The implication that the families were lying about the conversations has irked Woods and other victimsâ relatives.
âI think itâs really unfortunate that she was on the news latelyâŚwhere she was asked that question and she basically called me and the other family members liars,â Woods said.
Besides Woods, Patricia Smith, the mother of State Department information specialist Sean Smith, and Kate Quigley, the sister of Glen Doherty, a former Navy SEAL and CIA specialist, have all claimed that Clinton made similar comments about the video and the filmmaker.
âShe lied, she absolutely lied,â Patricia Smith said in an interview in November.
The Clinton campaign did not respond to TheDCâs request for comment on Woodsâ challenge.
