Reflecting on his place in the polls, Donald Trump says, “I do close the deal, I do win, but I never thought I’d have 24 point leads in different states.”
Appearing Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” host George Stephanopoulos asked Trump if he ever imagined that on the eve of the Iowa caucus he would be leading and “leading pretty big in every state.” Trump said, “The truth is no.”
“I didn’t. I thought, you know, I’m somebody who knows how to win, I’ve closed the deal, you know that about me for a long time. I do close the deal, I do win, but I never thought I’d have 24 point leads in different states,” Trump claimed. “You know, in Florida, I’m 48 and the sitting senator is 11 and Bush is down in the basement. Much lower than that. And you know, this is in the state of Florida.”
“I’d never thought I’d have those kind of leads and New Hampshire, I have a 22 point lead,” Trump said. “I’ve been — actually Iowa is the closest, I guess the poll just came out, I have a five or six point lead and I think the people of Iowa are going to really surprise tomorrow because they know, they know this phony, these phony ads these people put out, they’re such lies like Obamacare. No body is more negative on Obamacare than Donald Trump. And nobody knows healthcare better.”
