HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TEA PARTY

The new tea party movement began to form with a single rant from Rick Santelli on the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, February 19, 2009.  He spoke the words that millions of Americans felt but could not dare to speak.  “We’re thinking of having a Chicago tea party in July,” Santelli said in 2009.  And so the tea party movement solidified on April 15, 2009 with protests of  Taxed Enough Already all over the U.S.A.
As it was said by an American of Cuban descent in Miami, Florida one year ago:  From the small and typical towns of the North American people and up to huge and cosmopolitan cities of this Nation, men and women of all ages, of different races and social backgrounds, factory workers, farmers, owners of small businesses, people of all different religions, housewives, Anglo, Afro-americans, Hispanics, all Americans of all political denominations… Republicans, Democrats, Moderates, Conservatives, Independents, Libertarians… all worried about the recently begun presidential term of Barack Obama. All like small rivers uniting among themselves to form bigger rivers which at the same time formed greater masses flying banners and signs hand made where they began to show their fears of what they saw coming and of which… time gave them the opportunity to see that they were right to be fearful. Amid all the yellow flags showing a rattlesnake with words saying: ¨ Don´t Thread On Me ¨ and many North American Flags… many North American Flags as an unequivocal sign of the pride shown for this Country. Liberal radio and the press attacked them furiously and at the same time, afraid, hanging on them all kinds of despective epithets and humiliations they could imagine, but they couldn´t stop that The Movement helped to rip of their hands the leadership of Congress, a few Senatorial seats, and dozens of Governorships and about 700 State Legislators. They had said that this would be an ¨easy Victory ¨and that The Tea Party Movement would vanish into thin air, but they were wrong again. Today, this beautiful, clean and pure Movement is stronger, it has grown, is more organized. There are hundreds of groups… from the smallest to the biggest in numbers, but all very strong!- Rosa Pena, Miami Tea Party USA.

We may still not like what our government has imposed on us, but where would we be if each member of the tea party had not sacrificed their time and energy to restore our principles and values.  The tea party movement save our nation from quickly falling into a socialized/Marxist nation.  But that does not mean that we have won, there is a lot of work left to do, to restore our nation to what it was once. Thank God for the Tea Party.
