SPECIAL REPORT: PENTAGON WORRIED ABOUT THE MASSIVE RUSSIAN AND CHINESE MILITARY BUILDUP – PART 1 OF 3

Pentagon officials stated that Russia conducted a flight test of a revolutionary hypersonic glide vehicle in mid April 2016. This powerful weapon is capable of delivering nuclear or conventional warheads through advanced anti-ballistic missile defenses.

Russia and China are developing hypersonic glide vehicles to defeat the increasingly sophisticated anti-ballistic missile (ABM) defenses of the United States and its allies.

Pentagon officials stated that Russia conducted a flight test of a revolutionary hypersonic glide vehicle in mid April 2016. This powerful weapon is capable of delivering nuclear or conventional warheads through advanced anti-ballistic missile defenses. Military officials stated that the firing test of the hypersonic glider took place on April 19, 2016 in eastern Russia. It involved the launch of an SS-19 intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).

Bill Gertz wrote an article titled “Russia Tests Hypersonic Glide Vehicle on Missile” which was published in the Washington Free Beacon website on April 22, 2016. The reporter explained that Pentagon spokeswoman Lieutenant Colonel Michelle Baldanza said: “While we have seen the reports in the media, the Department of Defense has nothing to offer on this.” A defense official told the Washington Free Beacon that early indications were that the test was successful. No details were provided on how fast the vehicle went or the distance it traveled.

Gertz pointed out that the Russian test was only the second known test of a new hypersonic glider. An earlier test took place in 2015. Hypersonic missiles are being developed to defeat increasingly sophisticated missile defenses (ABM). These hypersonic glide vehicles are designed for use in rapid, long-range strikes. Interfax is a leading provider of critical information on Russia, China and emerging markets of Eurasia, serving the diverse needs of investors, corporations, financial professionals and the media. Interfax quoted a source familiar with the Russian test and confirmed it involved a “prototype hypersonic aircraft” that will be deployed on current and future long-range missiles. The hypersonic glider was launched on top an SS-19 missile and the test was said to be successful, Interfax said.

Gertz stated the following: “Hypersonic speed is between Mach 5 and Mach 10, or 3,836 miles per hour to 7,673 miles per hour. Hypersonic weapons pose technological challenges for weapons developers because the speeds create high heat and pressure that make flight and precision targeting difficult. Russia has made developing hypersonic weapons a high priority. China and the United States also are developing hypersonic missiles, both gliders and jet-powered vehicles that travel at extreme speeds. China has conducted six tests of its DF-ZF hypersonic glider. A U.S. Army hypersonic missile blew up shortly after launch in August 2014. The Pentagon also is developing a scramjet-powered hypersonic weapon.”

Valery Gerasimov

General Valery Gerasimov is the chief of the Russian general staff.

General Valery Gerasimov, chief of the Russian general staff, stated in May 2013 that Moscow opposed further nuclear arms talks because the United States is developing precision-guided hypersonic weapons that could be used in place of some nuclear weapons. General Gerasimov was referring to the X-37B space plane and other systems in development that could be used in what the Pentagon calls conventional Prompt Global Strike—weapons capable of hitting any target on earth within 30 minutes.

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitri Rogozin said that “whoever is first to achieve” mastery of hypersonic weapons would “overturn the principles” of how wars are waged. He also compared the development of hypersonic weapons as on par with the development of nuclear arms.

Gertz reported that in mid April 2016 during a hearing of the House of Representatives Armed Services Strategic Forces Subcommittee, Missile Defense Agency Director Vice Admiral James Syring was asked whether his agency is working to counter the threats from Chinese and Russian hypersonic strike weapons. The admiral said, that “I’ve asked for $23 million to begin a low-power laser demonstrator this year to demonstrate the feasibility by 2021.”

Representative Mike Rogers

Gertz explained that Representative Mike Rogers, Republican from Alabama and chairman of House of Representatives Armed Services Strategic Forces Subcommittee, expressed concern about the hypersonic threat. He said, that “I’m troubled that Russia and China continue to outpace the U.S. in development of these prompt global strike capabilities, complain about our tepid development programs, and the Obama administration’s ideological reductions to the Missile Defense Agency budget have denied that agency the resources to do anything to develop defenses.”

Gertz reported that Mark Schneider, a former Pentagon strategic forces policymaker, said that if the reports of the test are confirmed, “It is a major threat development.” Schneider said the following: “Russia has an extensive program underway on hypersonic vehicles. This year the Russian state media is reporting that a hypersonic cruise missile is being developed for Russian naval vessels including the ‘5th generation’ Husky missile submarine that is now under development. U.S. programs involving hypersonic vehicles are modest by comparison. I would be surprised if we actually deploy one. If we do, it will likely be conventional. Russian hypersonic vehicles will likely either be nuclear armed or nuclear capable since this is the norm for Russia.”

Gertz concluded his article by stating the following: “The new anti-ship missile, known as Tsirkon, will be in operation by 2018. Russian press reporting has indicated that the new Pak DA stealth bomber under development will also be armed with air-launched hypersonic missiles. Jane’s Intelligence Review disclosed last year that the Russian hypersonic strike vehicle is called the Yu-71. The report said the Russians could deploy up to 24 hypersonic gliders as nuclear delivery vehicles at Dombarovsky between 2020 and 2025. Geneva-based military analyst Pavel Podvig, who runs the blog Russianforces.org, said the program for the glider is code-named as Project 4202. Podvig said a test flight of the glider was expected. Whether it was successful, as the reports allege, or not, we don’t know.”

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and Russian Dictator Vladimir Putin have outpaced the United States in the development of hypersonic strike vehicles, ICBMs, ABMs, and other weapons while Obama looked away and disarmed the nation. As a result the balance of power has shifted away from the United States and its allies.

The Russian Tupolev Tu-160 Blackjack supersonic strategic bomber

Dave Majunder, who is the defense editor of National Interest website, wrote an article for this website on April 18, 2016. The reporter pointed out that despite its economic difficulties, oil price remains stubbornly low. Russia is pressing ahead with plans to develop its new PAK-DA stealth bomber. At the same time, it is resuming production of the Tupolev Tu-160 Blackjack supersonic strategic bomber.

Even though Russia plans to delay the development of PAK-DA in favor of the advanced Tu-160M2 derivative of the Blackjack, the program will not be cancelled. Yuri Borisov, Russia’s deputy defense minister, told the Russian Tass news agency on April 15, 2016 that “We certainly are not going to stop the work on the development of PAK-DA.”

Dave Majunder stated the following: “The PAK-DA—which is being developed by Tupolev—is expected to be a subsonic flying-wing aircraft that is roughly analogous to the Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit and the U.S. Air Force’s forthcoming Long Range Strike-Bomber. Flying wings lend themselves well to low observable characteristics—particularly against low frequency radars operating in the UHF and VHF bands. Meanwhile, the PAK-DA’s engines, which are being developed by the Kuznetsov design bureau, are an advanced derivative of the Tu-160’s NK-32 turbofans. It’s also likely make use of advanced electronic warfare capabilities. The PAK-DA is a break from previous Russian and Soviet bombers, which have generally focused on using a combination of speed and long-range cruise missiles to deliver their payloads. The PAK-DA is the first Russian bomber optimized for stealth. However, previous comments from Russian defense officials suggest that the PAK-DA will serve as a launch platform for long-range nuclear and conventional cruise missiles and a host of precision-guided munitions. It might also eventually be armed with hypersonic missiles if previous statements from Russian officials hold true.”

Majunder does not know when the Russians expect to field the PAK-DA. According to the last report, the new bomber was expected to make its first flight sometime before 2021, with the first deliveries starting in 2023.

Russia is preparing for war against the United States and its NATO allies

Alexander Dugin, a long-time adviser to Putin who hates the United States, wants the American empire to be destroyed. He is a key theorist of the ideological underpinnings of “Putinism” and “Eurasianism,” which is a very dangerous movement that seeks to provide a basis for uniting not only Russia, but all the world’s anti-freedom forces under Moscow’s leadership against the United States and its allies in the West.

Aleksandr (Alexander) Gelyevich Dugin is a long-time adviser to Putin.

Aleksandr (Alexander) Gelyevich Dugin is a Russian political scientist well known for his fascist views and who calls to hasten the “end of times” with all-out war. He has close ties with the Kremlin and the Russian military, having served as an advisor to State Duma speaker and key member of the ruling United Russia party Sergei Naryshkin. Dugin was the leading organizer of the National Bolshevik Party, National Bolshevik Front, and Eurasia Party. He is the author of more than 30 books, among them Foundations of Geopolitics and The Fourth Political Theory.

Dugin advocates the restoration of the Russian Empire through the unification of Russian-speaking territories, which roughly corresponds to the former Soviet republics, such as Georgia and Ukraine, and the unification with Russian-speaking territories, especially eastern Ukraine and Crimea. In the Kremlin, Dugin represents the “war party,” a division at the center of the leadership concerning Ukraine. He is seen as the driving conceptual force behind Vladimir Putin’s initiative for the annexation of Crimea by Russia. According to his geopolitical views, he considers the war between Russia and Ukraine to be inevitable and has encouraged Putin’s military intervention in Crimea and eastern Ukraine.

The current head of al-Qaida, Ayman Mohammed al-Zawahiri, appears in the picture with Osama bin Laden when he was second in command.

Putin and his adviser Dugin are tired of American hegemony. Russia wants to impose its destructive Russian bloody hegemony of chaos as it is doing effectively in Syria, Iran, and other nations in the Middle East. Putin’s massive attacks against the people of Syria have provoked tens of thousands to flee to Europe. This massive Russian intervention in Syria has created enormous chaos and disruption to the European nations which are allies of the United States. According to Dugin what Russia needs is a “genuine, true, radically revolutionary and consistent, fascist fascism.” The reporter stated the following: “On the other hand, Liberalism is an absolute evil…Only a global crusade against the U.S., the West, globalization, and their political-ideological expression, liberalism, is capable of becoming an adequate response…The American empire should be should be destroyed.”

The head of al-Qaida, Ayman Mohammed al-Zawahiri, is a KGB agent who works with Russia. Russia is working with all terror organizations to distract the United States while it spent trillions in wars while Putin has been rearming Russia as well as China. Obama’s erroneous and weak foreign policy and his unilateral disarmament have given the opportunity to Putin to become the strong man in the Middle East as well as continue the military aggression of Ukraine.

Jeff Nyquist is a geopolitical analyst who has written several books on Soviet/Russian strategy, including The New Tactics of Global War (2015), which he co-authored with Benjamin Baruch. Both of them are very concerned about those who are running for president and their attitude and views towards Russia. This is a book that everyone needs to read especially all 2016 presidential candidates, members of Congress, officials in the Departments of Defense and State, and all 17 intelligence agencies in the government.

In their book, The New Tactics of Global War, Nyquist and Baruch explained the following: “The 1991 collapse of the Soviet Union ended the Cold War, an event described in the West as the end of history. Post-Soviet Russia appeared to embrace free markets and democratic elections so the West would begin to view the new Russia as a friend. In 2014 Russian forces invaded and annexed Crimea. A New Cold war had begun. Russia was ready for this conflict, having armed itself to the teeth with new weapons. The demise of the Soviet Union now appears to have been greatly exaggerated or, at worst, an intentional deception. Although the intelligence service of the Soviet era, the KGB, was renamed the Federal Security Service( FSB), it facilitated the rise of Vladimir Putin to power, himself a former KGB official, proving the Security service from the former Soviet era was still very much in power within the new Russia.”

In The New Tactics of Global War, the authors explained what happened at the end of the Cold War and why Russia remains the number one threat to the national security of the United States. The moves and counter-moves of the present crisis stem from a long-running deception game. The book allows the reader to understand the “mind of the enemy.”

Nyquist and Baruch said that in the last seven years, while President Obama was disarming the United States, there has been a gradual shift in the military balance of power as Russia has begun to deploy new weapons systems that are better than those of the United States. They explained that given Russia’s renewed military power, the risk of war should not be underestimated. The two writers cited an article written by Anne Applebaum in the Washington Post entitled “War in Europe is not a Hysterical idea” published in August 2014. Applebaum said that a Russian dissident, Andrei Piontkovsky, has recently argued that Vladimir Putin is “really is weighing the possibility of limited nuclear war.”

Map of Europe showing the capitals and the countries that Putin said he could conquer in two days: Kiev, Ukraine; Warsaw, Poland; Riga, Latvia; Tallinn, Estonia; Vilnius, Lithuania; and Bucharest, Romania. Ukraine’s eastern territory and its Crimean peninsula were taken by Russia. Russia invaded Georgia and took half of its territory. The United States and its allies did not do anything to stop the Russian aggression.

Russian dictator Putin has made public threats against the United States, Baltic nations of Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania as well as Poland and Romania. Nyquist and Baruch said that on August 11, 2015, the Daily Mail reported, “Shock waves reverberated through Eastern Europe after Vladimir Putin boasted he could invade five NATO capitals inside two days.” The article quotes Vladimir Putin as saying, “If I wanted, Russian troops could not only be in Kiev in two days, but in Riga, Vilnius, Tallinn, Warsaw or Bucharest, too.”

Nyquist and Baruch pointed out that while most people in the United States and the West view war with Russia as impossible and nuclear war as unthinkable since there is the delusion that the Cold War is over and that the West won. Unfortunately, Russia and its ally China do not share those views and war against the United States and its NATO allies is a possibility in the near future. The current attitude in the United States and the West can best be described as complacent. Due to the effective and very successful disinformation and deceptive campaign by Russia and its spies and operatives in the United States, many people, including political leaders, have been fool into thinking that the Cold War ended and the United States won.

Russia and its ally China have changed the balance of power in their favor with their improved weapons

Nyquist and Baruch explained that the long-term Russian goal to eventually eliminate the military superiority of the United States and NATO has been achieved. They wrote the following: “Russia’s sudden leap ahead is decidedly obvious with the upcoming deployment of 10 battalions of S-500 antiballistic missiles, the revolutionary new T-14 Armata tank, and the road model version of the SS-27 intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM). The United States does not possess weapons systems comparable to these. The sudden emergence of Russian military superiority should surprise no one… Suddenly, out of nowhere, there appears a reinvigorated Russia backed by China…”

The Russian SS-N-22 Sunburn anti-ship missile that travels three times the speed of sound has the destructive payload to threaten large U.S. warships, including aircraft carriers.

Nyquist and Baruch said the following: “The SS-N-22 Sunburn missile that travels three times the speed of sound has the destructive payload to threaten large U.S. warships, including aircraft carriers. There is no effective countermeasure to defeat the Sunburn missile today. The Russians have armed Chinese destroyers with these Sunburn missiles… Another formidable weapon is the fuel air bomb. This bomb has the explosive power of the tactical nuclear weapon. The Russians have now miniaturized the fuel air bomb, producing a rifle-fire-grenade with the firepower of a 155 mm howitzer. It can knock down a three-story building. This is a new kind of conventional firepower that greatly increases the hitting power of infantry.”

Another powerful new weapon is the Russian aircraft Sukhoi-30 which the Air Force in India believes is superior to the best aircraft in the United States. Russia has developed more than 10 years ago a technology known as plasma stealth. When the nosecone of a Russian aircraft equipped with plasma stealth it gradually releases plasma as it approaches an enemy target generating a shield around the aircraft that makes it invisible to enemy radar.

On April 12, 2014, the USS Donald Cook sailing on the Black Sea was subjected to an electronic attack by Russian Su-24 aircraft that disabled all radars, control circuits, systems, information transmission, etc. on board the U.S. destroyer. Russian Sukhoi Su -24 with the newest jamming complex paralyzed in the Black Sea the most modern American combat management system “Aegis” installed on the destroyer USS Donald Cook.

An article published by the Voltairenet.org website stated the following: “The USS Donald Cook (DDG-75) is a 4th generation guided missile destroyer whose key weapons are Tomahawk cruise missiles with a range of up to 2,500 kilometers, and capable of carrying nuclear explosives. This ship carries 56 Tomahawk missiles in standard mode, and 96 missiles in attack mode. The U.S. destroyer is equipped with the most recent Aegis Combat System. It is integrated naval weapons systems which can link together the missile defense systems of all vessels embedded within the same network, so as to ensure the detection, tracking and destruction of hundreds of targets at the same time. In addition, the USS Donald Cook is equipped with 4 large radars, whose power is comparable to that of several stations. For protection, it carries more than fifty anti-aircraft missiles of various types.”

The Russian Su-24 aircraft

The article explained that the Russian Su-24 that buzzed the USS Donald Cook carried neither bombs nor missiles but only a basket mounted under the fuselage, which, according to the Russian newspaper Rossiyskaya Gazeta, had a Russian electronic warfare device called Khibiny. As the Russian aircraft approached the USS Donald Cook, the electronic device disabled all radars, control circuits, systems, information transmission, etc. on board the destroyer. Astonishing, the all-powerful Aegis system, now hooked up with the defense systems installed on NATO’s most modern ships was shut down, as turning off the TV set with the remote control.

The Russian Su-24 then simulated a missile attack against the USS Donald Cook, which was left literally deaf and blind? As if carrying out a training exercise, the Russian aircraft – unarmed – repeated the same maneuver 12 times before flying away.

If it had been a real attack, the U.S. Navy destroyer would have been blown out of the water. This incident resulted in that 27 sailors from the USS Donald Cook requested to be relieved from active service. This incident was cover-up by the establish pro-Obama media instead of writing editorials about the need to drastically increased the budget of the Navy and the rest of the Armed Forces. Sadly, no U.S. ship has ever approached Russian territorial waters again.

It is beyond this writer imagination why President Obama did not immediately start improving the research and development of weapons to match or exceed the new weapon systems of Russia. Why is the United States not stealing the advanced Russian technology in weapons through a cyber-attack as Russia and China are doing to the nation every day? The only answer that this writer has is that Obama wishes to deliberately harm the national security of the nation that elected him twice.
