A West Chester, Ohio, man has pleaded guilty to planning the kidnapping and execution of a U.S. military employee and the attack on a police station.
The U.S. attorneys office in Cincinnati said Munir Abdulkader, 21, was instructed by a member of ISIL to commit the terrorist acts before coming to Syria to fight for the insurgency.
Abdulkader had planned to film the execution of the military employee and had staked out a particular police station to attack, according to prosecutors. He also trained at a gun range and had planned to buy an AK-47 from a confidential informant, they said.
Abdulkader was arrested in May 2015. The charge and his guilty plea were revealed after court documents were unsealed today. The military employee and the police station were not identified in a U.S. Department of Justice news release.
