Trump’s Home Run Speech Delivers Compassion and Hope

Our corrupt and wildly out of touch media is already running with its well-coordinated “Trump’s Dark Speech” narrative. But when you live in the Emerald City of DC or Manhattan or their respective suburbs and America is going your way by increasing the size of central government, allowing the mentally ill (transgenders) into your daughter’s restroom, riots and police assassinations, etc., as you sip your latte in the shadow of all those gigantic DC buildings devoted to strangling individual freedom, you are of course satisfied with things.

Here’s the reality…

Have you ever felt isolated and alone; have you ever been grappling with a problem that no one seems to care about or understand? Have you ever been made to feel that whatever it is that’s bothering you is petty or selfish or not even real? And then, have you ever had someone, seemingly from out of the blue, say to you, “I understand”?

At the conclusion of Edith Wharton’s “The Age of Innocence,” she writes of the main character, “It seemed to take an iron band from his heart to know that, after all, someone had guessed and pitied.”

Trump’s speech last night released a lot of iron bands — millions of them left behind by two political parties enamored with globalism, government incompetence, identity politics, and kowtowing to a neo-Stalinist media.

Unlike our media, voters aren’t looking for hollow “hope” rhetoric. They have heard that hustle for 15 years only to see their wages decline along with the rise of terrorism and crime and social division.

If you want to give someone hope, the best way to do that is to convince them you understand and sympathize with their problem.

Trump’s speech was 100% compassion and hope.

He did everything exactly right.

Trump the Change Agent

As I’ve mentioned many times before, the biggest untold story in this country is the fact that around 70% of the American people believe the country is on the wrong track and have believed this for more than a decade. Even President HopeyChangey couldn’t dent those numbers.

These are people freaked out by domestic terrorism, the increase in violent crime, stagnant wages, flat job and GDP growth, lost Middle East wars, insane college fees, ever-increasing medical costs, zero border control, and a media that always screams that you’re a bigot if you disagree with them on anything.

Remember, and this is important: Those currently freaking out over how “dark” Trump’s speech is do not live in the Real World. They have no idea what life is like out here.

Trump not only spoke forcefully for these people, he convincingly told them he would fight for them; he embraced them, reassured them he understands their pain and frustrations, and promised to do everything in his power to fix it.

Powerful and effective stuff.

Trump the Acceptable Alternative

If you are going to present yourself as a Change Agent, you then have to present yourself as an acceptable alternative to the status quo. In short: voters have to be comfortable with the idea of you being president.

Frankly, this has been Trump’s biggest hurdle. The qualities that saw him humiliate 16 Republican primary opponents, the Political Establishment, a well-oiled #NeverTrump movement and a venomous media, have made Trump open to the criticism that he is erratic and unpresidential. Of course, I’m talking about the psy-ops and head games, the refusal to kneel to political correctness and appear weak by backing down…

When it comes to outsiders and political ingénues, voters are willing to accept a certain amount of rookie mistakes. In a change election year like this one, they are especially patient and even rooting for the Change Agent to rise to the occasion. In this regard, there are two big tests for presidential candidates: the first general election debate and the convention speech.

Last night Trump looked like a president and passed the first test by a wide margin.

Compassionately Reaching Out to America’s Disenfranchised

Let’s allow the man to speak for himself:

I have visited the laid-off factory workers, and the communities crushed by our horrible and unfair trade deals. These are the forgotten men and women of our country. People who work hard but no longer have a voice.

I AM YOUR VOICE.

I have embraced crying mothers who have lost their children because our politicians put their personal agendas before the national good. I have no patience for injustice, no tolerance for government incompetence, no sympathy for leaders who fail their citizens.

When innocent people suffer, because our political system lacks the will, or the courage, or the basic decency to enforce our laws – or worse still, has sold out to some corporate lobbyist for cash – I am not able to look the other way.

Embrace of Gays AND Evangelicals, the Heartland AND Inner-Cities

The left and their media have done a devious but effective job at creating a dynamic where you cannot align yourself with homosexuals unless you agree to be emotionally blackmailed into baking  them a wedding cake.

Trump did a masterful job last night of blowing that bullshit to smithereens. He reminded us that we can disagree on the politics while still recognizing each other’s humanity, and it is long past time the Republican Party did so with the gay community. Moreover, we are the ones opposed to importing a hateful ideology that results in gays being thrown off of buildings. In their ever-mercenary pursuit of power, Democrats are willing to break a hundred Orlando-eggs if it means just one more congressional seat.

At the same time Trump humbly reached out to evangelicals AND America’s lost inner-cities:

At this moment, I would like to thank the evangelical community who have been so good to me and so supportive. You have so much to contribute to our politics, yet our laws prevent you from speaking your minds from your own pulpits.

An amendment, pushed by Lyndon Johnson, many years ago, threatens religious institutions with a loss of their tax-exempt status if they openly advocate their political views.

I am going to work very hard to repeal that language and protect free speech for all Americans. We can accomplish these great things, and so much else – all we need to do is start believing in ourselves and in our country again. It is time to show the whole world that America Is Back – bigger, and better and stronger than ever before. …

This Administration has failed America’s inner cities. It’s failed them on education. It’s failed them on jobs. It’s failed them on crime. It’s failed them at every level.

When I am President, I will work to ensure that all of our kids are treated equally, and protected equally.

Every action I take, I will ask myself: does this make life better for young Americans in Baltimore, Chicago, Detroit, Ferguson who have as much of a right to live out their dreams as any other child America?

It was an effective performance because it was sincere. Unlike the media and Democrats, Trump was bringing people together.

It’s called leadership.

Ignoring Ideology

This is what drives #NeverTrump the most insane — the fact that Trump is not a down-the-line conservative. But voters are tired of watching their country go down in flames as right and left white-knuckle ideology.

#NeverTrump can complain all they want about Trump’s belief in government, but their guy George W. Bush exploded the size of government. Therefore, they sound ridiculous. At least Trump is someone who has proven he can literally build something from nothing.

Personally, I disagree with Trump on all kinds of things. But my highest political value is beating Democrats and this is how you beat Democrats.

I wish the world were perfect, but for the sake of my country I can compromise knowing it is not.

Authentic and Likable

Last night Trumped needed to cast-off the celebrity sheen, the ribald humor, and the off-the-cuff charm. Granted, this made his speech less electrifying than his rallies, but as I mentioned above, he had to do this; he had to show voters he was capable of self-discipline and rising to occasion.

Nevertheless, what wasn’t lost in this new-and-improved Donald Trump was his authenticity and likability — two qualities no amount of Clinton Foundation slush-fund money can buy the sociopath Hillary Clinton.

After three days of seeing his convention hijacked by Ted Cruz, crybabies in the rules committee, and an increasingly shrill and desperate mainstream media, Donald Trump took to the stage in Cleveland Thursday night and not only exceeded expectations, he did exactly what he had to do to win the White House.
