During the FBI’s criminal investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server, top Clinton aide and attorney Cheryl Mills was granted partial immunity in exchange for information according to a new report from POLITICO:
Top Hillary Clinton aide Cheryl Mills received an immunity deal from the Justice Department in the FBI’s investigation into the former secretary of state’s email server, House Oversight Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) said Friday.
“This is beyond explanation. The FBI was handing out immunity agreements like candy,” Chaffetz said in a statement. “I’ve lost confidence in this investigation and I question the genuine effort in which it was carried out. Immunity deals should not be a requirement for cooperating with the FBI.”
A source familiar with the offer said it came after the FBI interviewed Mills and Samuelson when investigators asked to go through their computers to see if they still contained classified information
During the FBI investigation, a number of questions were raised around a serious conflict of interest presented since Mills served as Clinton’s attorney while also serving as a witness in the case.

Mills joins a long list of other Clinton staffers granted immunity during the investigation. Brian Pagliano, the Clinton aide who set up the private server and unsecure at Clinton’s New York home, was also granted immunity by the FBI during the investigation. Last week he refused to show up for testimony in front of the House Oversight Committee, despite being under subpoena to do so. As a result, the Committee has voted him in Contempt of Congress.
