The United States and Mexico just shared a moment in history. President Peña Nieto invited the two presidential candidates, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, to visit Mexico. Trump accepted the invitation immediately and met the Mexican President this past Wednesday. However, Hillary Clinton has yet to accept the invitation or indicate that she is planning to visit any time soon.

Although Peña Nieto and Trump discussed multiple matters of common interest, they focused mainly on illegal immigration. During a press conference from the presidential palace, Peña Nieto criticized the trafficking of weapons and money flowing from the United States into Mexico while Trump criticized illegal immigration and the trafficking of drugs coming from Mexico.

During the conference, Peña Nieto said that he and Trump had a constructive discussion. The President recognized the United States’ immigration crisis and spoke of the strong economic ties that both countries share. Peña Nieto also said he was willing to work with the new U.S. President in order to solve the problems faced by both nations.

Donald Trump was clear in expressing his love for the United States and his respect for the sovereignty of our nation and the immigration laws in the country.

Trump’s speech expressed his determination to solve the immigration crisis once and for all. His trip to Mexico revealed something else, while Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are promoting illegal immigration for political reasons, Donald Trump denounces it, both in the US and abroad.

Trump also made remarks of respect and admiration to the Mexican people. The businessman acknowledged the contribution millions of Mexicans working in the United States have made for the country. Trump also said that neither country benefits from violence, drugs or illegal immigration over the border.

Trump spoke of the priorities that both nations must have to ensure the future and well being of their citizens. According to Trump, these priorities are:

1. Ending illegal immigration

2. Creating a safe border

3. Dismantling the drug cartels

4. Improving NAFTA

5. Keeping the industrial wealth in our hemisphere

Donald Trump said that the immigration crisis is a humanitarian crisis that affects both nations and that a strong and prosperous Mexico is in the best interest for the United States.

During his brief visit to Mexico, Trump not only exposed important and serious problems both countries face, but also expressed his concern for the safety of American and Mexican citizens. However, the mainstream media radically criticized both his trip and his speech.

If Hillary Clinton had given the same speech, the country’s liberal press wouldn’t have enough words to praise it, however, the truth is, Clinton would never give such a speech. The reason is simple, Hillary Clinton does not believe in either the rule of law or legal immigration.

Donald Trump’s trip to Mexico is a historical one. Trump is the first U.S. presidential candidate to denounce (on Mexican soil) the immigration crisis that afflicts the United States.

History will remember the circumstances that motivated Trump to visit Mexico: the never-ending immigration crisis and his hopes to solve it.
