As we reported earlier this week, Iranian-backed Houthi rebels fired two missiles at a U.S. Navy destroyer operating off the coast of Yemen in the Red Sea on Sunday — just two days after the Obama administration further eased sanctions on Iran.
Now, they’ve just done it again, as Reuters reports:
A U.S. Navy destroyer was targeted on Wednesday in a failed missile attack from territory in Yemen controlled by Iran-aligned Houthi rebels, the second such incident in the past four days, U.S. officials told Reuters.
Leading members of Congress now suspect a portion of a recent $1.7 billion cash payment to Iran may have been used to help arm and support the Yemeni terrorists who fired the missiles.
The White House “strongly condemned” Sunday’s incident as “irresponsible,” not showing “respect for international law” and placing civilians in danger, but that’s as far as it went. (Clearly, the Iran-backed rebels now wholeheartedly regret Sunday’s incident after being called “irresponsible” — but decided to go ahead anyway and fire again today.) Meanwhile, there are many, including our own Col. West, who would suggest the firing of these missiles targeting our US Navy ship is an act of war and should be responded to as such, especially after repeated incidents over the past several months.
Now, the Obama administration is threatening actual retaliation — but just not against Iran. Nope, Obama and Kerry’s new BFF — the number one global state sponsor of terror — get a pass for firing missiles at us. However, the Secretary of State John Kerry says we will strike back against the Russians for the hacking that’s apparently inflicting a special kind of terror on those who are hellbent on seeing Hillary Clinton succeed Barack Obama as president.
