WikiLeaks: Email Suggests Obama Knew About Clinton’s Private Server

A 2015 email exchange between top Clinton aides released by WikiLeaks Thursday appears to confirm that President Obama knew full well that Hillary Clinton was using a private server and email address as secretary of state — despite his claims to the contrary.

In an email with the subject line “Obama Says He Didn’t Know Hillary Clinton Was Using Private Email Address — NYTimes.com,” Clinton aide Philippe Reines expressed his surprise at The Times’ story.

“Suggest Philippe talk to Josh [Earnest] or Eric [Schultz]. They know POTUS and HRC emailed.”

“I find it odd the NYT didn’t actually quote the President saying what’s in their headline … One of us should connect with the WH just so they know that the email will show his statement to not make sense,” Reines wrote to Clinton Communications Director Jennifer Palmieri.

“Suggest Philippe talk to Josh [Earnest] or Eric [Schultz]. They know POTUS and HRC emailed,” Palmieri replied, to which Reines responded, “Ok. Sounds like people are putting words into his mouth.”

But “people” did no such thing. The Times article Reines cited refers to Obama’s interview with CBS’ Bill Plante on March 7, 2015, in which the president claimed to have learned about Clinton’s use of a private account and server “the same time everybody else learned it through news reports.”
