Democratic National Committee chairwoman Donna Brazile has made headlines for her blatant favoritism towards Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, even abusing her former position as a CNN contributor to help out her preferred candidate.
Here are four things you need to know about Brazile.
1. Brazile has fed multiple questions to the Clinton campaign prior to a debate. In an email dated March 5, Brazile sent a message to Clinton communications director Jennifer Palmieri and campaign chairman John Podesta informing them that Clinton should expect that a woman whose “family has lead poison … will ask what, if anything, will Hillary do as president to help the ppl of Flint,” referencing the lead water poisoning in Flint, MI.
Sure enough, the CNN debate the following day featured a woman asking a question about Flint. It is not known who tipped off Brazile to the question but The Daily Caller found that someone named Danelle at CNN had first gotten the Flint question from the woman.
Brazile had also given another question in advance to the Clinton campaign regarding the death penalty. She promised she would “send a few more.”
2. Brazile is no longer employed as a CNN contributor. Despite claims that she resigned, it’s clear that CNN fired her from her position.
Jeff Zucker, president of CNN, tore into Brazile at a CNN editorial phone call on Tuesday, saying that Brazile’s behavior “hurts all of us.”
“I have no tolerance for her behavior or that kind of behavior,” Zucker said, per the Huffington Post.
3. Brazile has denounced criticism of President Barack Obama as rooted in some sort of racism. According to Discover The Networks:
In a June 2014 appearance on CNN, Brazile took issue with Republicans who had criticized President Obama’s recent decision to trade five captive Islamic terrorist leaders in exchange for former American soldier Robert Bergdahl, who five years earlier, while professing contempt for his own âdisgustingâ homeland, had deserted the Army and ended up in the custody of the Taliban. âThatâs all they do,â said Brazile. â… all they do is focus their vitriol, their rage, against this president. If the president this morning had scrambled eggs and bacon, theyâd say thatâs an unhealthy breakfast. If the president had cereal and fruit, theyâd say thatâs an unhealthy breakfast.â
In July 2014, Brazile claimed that many Americans reflexively âwant to destroy [Obama’s] presidencyâ because of their intransigent âvitriolâârooted in âthat old-school way of thinking about race and opportunityâ that was so prevalent in âthe past of this country.â
This fits in with Brazile’s previous history of race-baiting and looking back fondly at working for Rev. Jesse Jackson, as the Daily Wire explained here.
4. Brazile downplayed voter fraud while accusing voter ID laws of being racist. Discover The Networks’  profile on Brazile explains that “when the community organization ACORN was mired in a massive voter-registration-fraud scandal in 2008, Brazile downplayed it as ‘no more than a few canvassers trying to meet their quota and make easy money by cheating the system.’
“By contrast, Brazile views Republican efforts to pass Voter ID laws as the schemes of ‘extremist governors or legislatures’ who ‘are willing to violate people’s civil rights in order to win elections.'”
ACORN at the time had been facing investigations in numerous states due to their voter fraud practices, but the organization wasn’t taken down until Andrew Breitbart, James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles exposed the organization’s criminal practices.
On the other hand, as the Daily Wire has explained here and here, voter fraud is a real issue, while there is no evidence of voter ID laws being racist. For Brazile to say otherwise reflects on her race-baiting and corrupt nature as head of the DNC.
