Donald Trump’s Three Generals

Future President, Donald Trump, has chosen three Generals as members of his upcoming cabinet. Trump’s decision provoked criticism among democrats and liberals. Some even went as far to say that the President elect wants to establish a dictatorship in the country. Meanwhile, republicans and conservatives have praised Trump’s appointments.

Lets review certain important details of the three Generals chosen by Donald Trump.

JAMES MATTIS

James Mattis is currently one of the most respected Generals in the U.S. He previously was a marine and served his country for 41 years. For those who know him, General Mattis breaths patriotism and American values. Donald Trump appointed General Mattis as Secretary of Defense.

Mattis was head of the Central Command of the US forces and oversaw successful military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. He has been awarded many medals and military honors.

The 4-star General has strongly criticized radical Islamic extremism. In this respect, President Obama and General Mattis had serious disagreements over strategies used by the administration to fight Islamic terrorism.

James Mattis greatly opposed the nuclear deal with Iran that had been proposed by President Obama. Mattis considers Iran a threat to peace and stability in the Middle East. Once the General said that “the United States should be prepared for war if Iran continues developing nuclear weapons”.

General Mattis has used harsh remarks in reference to the foreign policy of the Obama administration. In fact, on several occasions James Mattis questioned the decisions of the President. Barack Obama ended up firing General Mattis due to his opposition.

MICHAEL FLYNN

Michael Flynn is the retired serviceman who most supported Donald Trump’s presidential candidacy. During Trump’s campaign, Flynn was considered as a possible candidate for Vice President but Trump ended up choosing Flynn as his National Security Adviser.

Lieutenant General Michael Flynn has extensive knowledge and experience in intelligence services. Flynn was in charge of the Defense Intelligence Agency and was the director of the Central Command of the United States. Michael Flynn was probably the military senior who most objected President Obama’s foreign policy.

According to Flynn, “the United States is at war with a radical component of Islam” and that “Islam is a political ideology based on a religion”. Flynn has criticized the stance of “political correctness” of the Obama administration. Flynn wrote in his book, “The Field of Fight” that political correctness “prohibits us to denounce radical Islamists”. The book also denounces the failed policies of President Obama in the fight against Islamic terrorism.

General Michael Flynn wrote the following in his book about President Obama:

“Obama has shown great sympathy for anti-American revolutionaries”.

“The open hostility of the Obama Administration toward Israel has damaged the national security of the United States.”

“It is simply incredible that an American President thinks that a strategic alliance with Iran is more attractive than a traditional embrace with Israel”.

Barack Obama forced Lieutenant General Flynn to submit his resignation.

JOHN KELLY

General John Kelly was chosen as Secretary of Homeland Security. Kelly has an extensive military career and served his country for 46 years before retiring. He was in charge of the American forces during the Iraq war and oversaw military operations in Latin America. In addition, John Kelly was in charge of the Command South of the US forces.

Kelly has a high degree of respect for the military and the country’s immigration laws. His son, who was also a serviceman, died in the Afghanistan war in 2010.

General Kelly was also critical of the Obama administration. According to Kelly, the flow of drugs and illegal immigrants across the border represent an “existential threat” to the country’s national security.

Moreover, the General did not share the opinion of President Obama to close the GuantĂĄnamo prison.

Some analysts believe General Kelly to be an expert in terrorism and national security. That, plus his experience and knowledge in natural disasters and humanitarian assistance in Latin America, makes him an ideal candidate to lead the office of Homeland Security.

John Kelly will play an important role in the decisions the Trump Administration will make in regards to the construction of the wall at our southern border, control of the immigration crisis and possible restrictions on immigrants coming from Muslim countries with terrorist background.

Conclusion:

The generals chosen by Donald Trump have commonalities: they are highly competent, were critical of President Obama and expressed concern for the direction the country has taken under the current administration.

James Mattis, Michael Flynn and John Kelly will play an important role in the presidency of Donald Trump. The country and the world hope the three generals will help the new president “Make America Great Again”.
