Jill Stein’s Recount Runs Into MAJOR Bad News – Democrats Make Surprise Move

Why the Progressives Want a Recount They Know They Will LoseWhen Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein announced the collection of donations to pay for a ballot recount in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan — states that Donald Trump won — the mainstream media were elated. There was still hope that America would be With Her™ — with Hillary Clinton, that is, as Stein herself had absolutely no chance of winning anything.

Even Hillary’s campaign joined the recount effort, all in the vain hope that some form of vote machine issue or computer hacking (something there’s been no evidence for) could be discovered, presumably.

Less than a week later, however, the recount that set so many liberal hearts aflutter has been revealed as the joke it should have been treated as, and it hasn’t even begun in earnest. Now, Democrats are starting to turn on their one-time hero.

The attempt to force a recount in Wisconsin hit a couple of snags: state officials refusing to tell counties to recount ballots by hand and Stein’s misgauging how much the process would cost in the Badger State have more than trebled, from $1.1 million on her crowdfunding page to $3.5 million estimated by the Wisconsin Elections Commission.

In Pennsylvania, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the recount initiative missed the deadline for starting the process, leading Stein to file a lawsuit. The original deadline was Nov. 21.

As for Michigan, there’s a Wednesday deadline for Stein to formally petition for a statewide recount, which would be a monumental process.

That’s not all, though. The Hill reports that Democrats are getting annoyed at the increasingly problematic recount prospects, with several voicing their concerns publicly.

“It’s a waste of time and money. It is not going to change anything,” said Democratic strategist Joe Trippi, manager for Howard Dean’s infamous 2004 “scream” campaign. “I think it probably was the Stein people looking for a way to stay relevant, raise some money and take the stink off of them. Instead of everybody screaming, ‘You made Trump happen,’ she is counting the votes to change that whole narrative.”

“We should all want to know the final count of this election, which was closer than many people realize, and identify any voter suppression or irregularities that are subverting our democracy,” Democratic operative Rodell Mollineau told the Washington Examiner in an interview.

“However, by waiting two weeks, we have undermined our credibility with the public and will be seen as sore losers,” he continued. “And the last thing Democrats should be doing is giving the American people any reason to feel sympathy for Donald Trump.”
