Philadelphia City Cavalry Will Escort Trump At Inauguration

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – An Army Cavalry unit from Philadelphia that has fought battles since the American Revolution will escort President-elect Donald Trump and march on horseback during the inaugural parade.

It will be the First Troop Philadelphia City Cavalry’s 61st escort for a U.S. president and the fifth presidential inaugural parade.

The unit, created in 1774, says in a statement it is “honored and proud to carry on its tradition of service to our Democratic republic at the inauguration of the 45th President of these United States of America.”

The cavalry has escorted military generals like World War I Gen. John J. Pershing, royalty including Queen Elizabeth of England and war heroes like” Band of Brothers” leader Maj. Dick Winters, who was a Pennsylvania native.
