Military-themed Super Bowl ad HELD BACK until game was over; now we know WHY

Some folks are saying last night’s Super Bowl match-up between the Atlanta Falcons and the New England Patriots was the best game ever – but of course that truly depends on for whom you were rooting.

While there was some consternation that Lady Gaga would inject politics into her half-time performance (which she ended up not) the very game itself was political because of President Trump and Tom Brady’s mutual admiration.

Check out this little Twitter gem picked up from our “black brotha” Shaun King:

Most of the television commercials were fairly benign. Not as tasteless as in Super Bowls passed, but heavy on the “diversity and inclusion.”

One particular ad showed up way at the end of the game, after the Patriots had won. It featured another group of patriots, and there was a powerful reason why it was held back.

Per IJ Review, Hyundai’s Super Bowl ad didn’t run until after the final whistle had blown, but it was arguably the most powerful one of the entire night.

The advertisement was made for American soldiers who were unable to be home for the Super Bowl. The minute and a half video captures the true meaning of service members’ sacrifice.

Amazingly, the ad used real moments from the big game, meaning it was capturing and editing footage for the very expensive Super Bowl spot while the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons were still battling for the NFL championship.

More importantly, Hyundai made it possible for American soldiers to watch the Super Bowl with the ones they love the most — and that’s better than any multimillion dollar, action-packed spot could ever deliver.

There were two points in the game (other than the game itself) where you’d have to be built of stone to not get a little teary-eyed. The first was when a frail President George H. W. Bush was wheeled out for the coin toss.

This ad was the second. Well done, Hyundai.
