Elections took place in my home country of Ecuador. The government’s socialist candidate Lenin Moreno won the runoff under very dubious conditions that put into question the legitimacy of his presidency, but most importantly keeps digging the region under a statist-socialist agenda that has been undermining democracy, liberty and justice in our own backyard.
A quick overview of important activities that confirm the fraudulent behavior of Ecuador’s elections:
-Despite independent polls giving the election to the opposition candidate (Lasso). Government polls suggested the contrary.
-The presidential campaign gave clear advantages to Moreno through unfair practices and “under the table” activities.
– EU and western observers were not allowed to enter the country. Only regional leftist supporters were.
– The current party in power dominates the executive, judicial and legislative powers.
– The country’s most reputable independent pollster was raided the day after the elections by the government.
– Lasso’s advertising company was also raided a few days after the elections.
– Current President Correa controls the electoral appeals tribunal.
– The electoral tribunal is filled by his party and it’s director is the brother of Correa’s AG.
– The electoral state website was giving the advantage to Lasso 50.5% to 49.5% after 82% of votes counted. At which point the site went down for 30 minutes. When it came back, the lead was reversed: 51% to 49%.
Despite these and many more examples of fraud it is highly unlikely that the results will be reversed and the outcome changed.
What is the likelihood of American intervention in Ecuador and/or Venezuela? America’s backyard is being painted red and will create an exodus of immigrants that will leave the country in search of liberty, while loosing neighboring country alliances to China, Russia, and -terrorist sponsor Iran.
