Raymond Dehn, a state representative and mayoral candidate in Minneapolis, has a solution for all the “violence” coming from police officers in light of two controversial shootings in the city:
Take away their guns.
Fox9 is reporting, State Representative and Minneapolis mayoral candidate Raymond Dehn is calling for major policing changes, proposing to take away guns from the majority of officers
Dehn is one of several candidates running to beat current Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges in the fall.
He recently won the support of voters at the Democratic Farmer Labor convention and now his call to disarm police of their side guns is garnering major attention.
“I’m not saying they don’t have access to that, just like they have access to more lethal weapons in their cars, I would believe they would still have access to their guns in their cars,” said Dehn.
Dehn says that while he supports the yanking of guns from police, he’s totally fine with them using a night stick or pepper spray.
This, of course, is the very definition of foolishness, but unfortunately, such a policy will appeal to the liberal masses, particularly those violent offenders who, despite a change in law, will still be packing pistols on the sly.
Police officers deal with dangerous criminals every day, and as such, they deserve to have the means to defend their lives from those who seek to take them away.
Sure, police training needs to be improved and more help provided for cops under stress, but that doesn’t require taking away their only real means of self-defense.
Yet another situation where it seems common sense is being abandoned.
