Florida Professor: Sure, Texans Deserved The Hurricane. They Supported Trump.

In the Left’s rush to turn everything into a political club to wield against President Trump – and in the absence of any evidence that Trump is botching the federal response to Hurricane Harvey – more extreme members of the Left have decided to celebrate the hurricane as a sort of cosmic response to Trump supporters. Take, for example, Professor Ken Storey of University of Tampa, who tweeted, “I don’t believe in instant Karma, but this kinda feels like it for Texas. Hopefully this will help them realize the GOP doesn’t care about them.” He later apologized, but not before explaining, “the good people there need to do more to stop the evil their state pushes. I’m only blaming those who support the GOP there.”

Then there’s Cenk Uygur of The Young Turks, who tweeted his happiness at damage done to the oil industry:

There’s also The New York Times’ Yamiche Alcindor, who went on MSNBC to declare:

There’s this idea that these storms, these hurricanes, are getting worse and worse, scientists say, and that working class and poor people — poor people that voted for Donald Trump that are excited about his presidency, that thought his presidency was gonna improve their lives — that these are the same people that can’t afford to get in their car and drive four or five hours or afford a hotel room to try to escape these floods.

Some of the same Leftists who proclaimed that Pastor John Hagee was wildly out-of-bounds to blame Hurricane Katrina on God’s vengeance for sin in New Orleans (he was, and he apologized) are now using the same logic, sans God, to attack Texans. It’s pretty amazing, and pretty disgusting. By this logic, was Houston particularly punished because they elected a Democrat mayor?

When politics overcomes basic human decency, the result is nonsense like this. Unfortunately, this nonsense seems to be becoming more and more common.
