Trump Gives Congress a Message on DACA, Announces Sale of Military Equipment in Tuesday Morning Tweets

President Trump on Tuesday started off the morning tweeting a message to Congress about the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which allows some illegal immigrants who came to the country as minors and who meet a certain set of criteria to work and live without being deported.

“Congress, get ready to do your job – DACA!” the president said.

The Trump administration announced last week that it would announce its decision regarding the program’s fate Tuesday, which is the deadline.

Katie reported this morning that Attorney General Jeff Sessions will hold a briefing on DACA at 11 a.m. at the Justice Department.

The president also made an announcement regarding military sales to Japan and South Korea in the wake of North Korea’s test of what they claimed was a hydrogen bomb that could be mounted to an intercontinental ballistic missile.

“I am allowing Japan & South Korea to buy a substantially increased amount of highly sophisticated military equipment from the United States,” Trump wrote on Twitter.

After speaking with South Korean President Moon Jae-in, Trump agreed to lift the limits on the country’s missile payload capabilities.

Trump also spoke with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Sunday after Pyongyang’s latest nuclear test. Last week, North Korea launched a missile that flew over the country.
