Jerry Falwell Jr: Trump Coined Term ‘Fake News,’ Now He Should Say ‘Fake Republicans’

Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. said Friday that it’s time President Donald Trump called out Republicans who are failing in their duty, just like how he called out the “fake news” media.

Falwell spoke during an appearance on Sean Hannity’s Fox News, in which Hannity mentioned Republican Sens. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Susan Collins of Maine, Bob Corker of Tennessee, John McCain of Arizona and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky

“I spoke to the president last week and I told him he needs to coin a new term, ‘fake Republicans,’ because that’s what those people you just named are,” Falwell said.

“They’re not really Republicans,” Falwell added. “We don’t really have a majority in the Senate, and I think that would be a good term for him to start using.”

Many on Twitter agreed with Falwell.

Falwell said Trump has demonstrated, as president, that he fully embraces the Christian conservative cause.

“The fact that he spoke at the Values Voter Summit today, the first sitting president ever, and the fact that he did his first graduation speech at Liberty University, the tradition has been for the new president to do their first graduation speech at Notre Dame for generations, but he came to Liberty,” Falwell said.

“I think it’s a sign that he understands that the left, we’re under a full assault from the left of all traditional American values, from support for the state of Israel to even the NFL,” he said.
