REPORT: Rand Paul Having Problems Breathing After Vicious Attack From Democrat Neighbor

“I’m just concerned that I was attacked from the back and somebody broke six of my ribs and gave me a damaged lung.”

Ten days after being attacked by his Democrat neighbor, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) now says he is having problems breathing from the six-broken ribs and damaged lung he received during the attack.

Paul told the Washington Examiner’s Paul Bedard that he does not know what sparked the violent attack.

“From my perspective, I’m not really too concerned about what someone’s motive is. I’m just concerned that I was attacked from the back and somebody broke six of my ribs and gave me a damaged lung where at least for now I have trouble speaking and breathing and now I’ve hurt for 10 days,” Paul said.

Paul, 54, was allegedly assaulted by his 59-year-old neighbor, Rene Boucher — a registered Democrat — while he was doing yardwork on November 3. Police arrested and charged Boucher with fourth-degree assault, and released him on Saturday after he posted $7,500 bond.

The Washington Examiner noted that while Boucher’s lawyer claims the attack was not political in nature, “Social media posts from Boucher show that he is aggressively anti-Trump and anti-Republican.”

The New York Times suggested that the dispute was due to a feud over landscaping, however, Paul and his neighbors have cast serious doubts over those claims.

Fox News reported:

In an interview with Fox News, Paul’s neighbor of 17 years, Dan Renshaw, a local car dealer in Bowling Green, was dismissive of reports that the incident stemmed from anything having to do with “lawn clippings,” given the severity of the attack. He said U.S. Capitol Police have been to the neighborhood, signaling an intensifying local and federal investigation into last week’s incident.

Further, Renshaw said his son-in-law — who sits on a neighborhood board — told him there’s never been any reports of conflicts between the two men or any report of trouble from the alleged attacker.

Paul confirmed to the Washington Examiner that he has had little to no interaction with Boucher.

“My first encounter was basically being hit in the back,” Paul said. “We’ve never had words over anything, we’ve never had a dispute or discussion or words.”

“Really if you told me he was doing it for some noble cause to feed starving children somewhere, there is no motive,” Paul continued. “There is no motive that would justify hitting somebody from behind and breaking their ribs and damaging their lungs, so no, there is no justification for something like that.”
