A belligerent student at University of California, Riverside, who has been charged with stealing a “Make America Great Again” hat from her classmate’s head, now faces serious consequences for her actions, including up to “one year in county jail.”
The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office charged Edith Macias with one count of grand theft for the incident, the College Fix reported.
Charges were filed after Macias allegedly stole the hat off Matthew Vitale’s head on September 27 in what turned into a viral video.
“The next court date on the matter is slated for March, and the maximum penalty Macias faces if convicted as currently charged is one year in county jail,” The Fix added.
In the video, Macias can be heard shouting multiple times that she took the hat because it represented a “genocide of a bunch of people.”
“UCR is letting people wear this shit on campus?” Macias said in the video. “Make American Great Again, really? There were lynchings and genocide and mass deportations. I fucking hate this country… and I am not leaving. We need to get rid of all ya’ll.”
Macias continued to spew her hysterical nonsense when she responded to Vitale’s demand to get his hat back.
“F*** your freedom of speech boy, your freedom of speech is literally killing a lot of people out there, your hats like these that promote laws and legislation that literally kill and murder people of color,” Macias continued.
