REPORT: President Trump Launching Official 2020 Re-Election Bid.

Matt Drudge of the Drudge Report announced on Tuesday that Donald Trump intends to unveil his 2020 re-election campaign far earlier than expected — nearly 1,000 days ahead of the 2020 contest, and a year earlier than President Barack Obama announced his own re-election bid.

In an exclusive to the Drudge Report, the president also reportedly named his 2020 campaign manager: 2016 Trump campaign digital guru Brad Parscale.

**WORLD EXCLUSIVE** TUE FEB 27 2018 10:05 AM ET** Just one year into his presidency, Trump will stun the political world TODAY by announcing he is running for re-election in 2020. Digital guru Brad Parscale will be named campaign manager, DRUDGE REPORT has learned… MORE… The bold move comes 980 days before Election Day, a historical record. Obama announced 582 days out… MORE…

Matt Drudge announced the “SHOCK REPORT” early Tuesday on Twitter.

The Drudge Report blared, shortly after, in huge red letters, “IN FOR 2020.”

The Trump campaign issued an official statement just moments later.

Trump is just a year into his presidency, as Drudge pointed out, but his Make America Great Again PAC never really went dormant. Less than a month after Trump won in 2016, the PAC transitioned to the Keep America Great PAC, and the organization has already spent nearly half a million in the 2018 cycle.

An official re-election campaign fundraising arm opened on Inauguration Day in 2017, and amassed a six figure war chest even as the president’s official term was just getting started — and while other presidential contenders, including Trump’s opponent Hillary Clinton, were still struggling to get out of debt (and while Democrats were still reeling from their loss).

Trump’s Manhattan campaign offices, located in Trump Tower, actually never closed, according to Politico, and have been operating with a “skeleton crew” since the 2016 campaign officially folded, and at least three committees — Donald J. Trump for President, Trump Make America Great Again Committee, and Trump Victory Fund — have remained in place to handle things like email list management, small dollar fundraising, and telemarketing.

Brad Parscale’s appointment to lead the 2020 effort is also no surprise; the leader of Trump’s 2016 online effort, Parscale was Trump’s most valuable campaign asset. And Parscale has remained involved. According to FEC filings, Parscale’s Giles-Parscale digital firm has been consulting with Trump’s fledgling re-election campaign since December of 2016.
