Gowdy: Comey’s Book Is ‘Beneath The Dignity’ Of The FBI.

South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy blasted James Comey on Friday over the former FBI director’s forthcoming book, calling it “beneath the dignity” of the bureau.

“I can’t think of anyone who’s done a better job of politicizing the FBI than [Comey] has in the last 36 to 48 hours,” Gowdy said on “Fox & Friends.”

“I think it’s sad,” he added.

Comey has received some criticism for taking petty jabs at President Trump’s physical appearance in the book, “A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership.”

In one section, Comey writes of his first meeting with Trump — at an intelligence briefing on Jan. 6, 2017 — that the Republican’s “face appeared slightly orange, with bright white half-moons under his eyes where I assumed he placed small tanning goggles, and impressively coiffed, bright blond hair, which upon close inspection looked to be all his.”

“I remember wondering, how long it must take him in the morning to get that done.”

Comey, who is 6’8″, also writes that he made a point of checking the 6’3″ Trump’s hand size.

“As he extended his hand, I made a mental note to check its size. It was smaller than mine, but did not seem unusually so,” Comey writes.

Comey, who was fired by Trump on May 9, also describes Trump as similar to a “mob boss” who is “untethered to truth.”

“Some of the things that he’s talking about are just frankly beneath the dignity of some of the offices that he held,” Gowdy said Friday.
