Fatboy Slim has sampled Greta Thunberg’s blistering speech to UN leaders in his classic ‘Right Here, Right Now’ nineties dance anthem.

Slim, real name Norman Cook, used the 16-year-old activist’s rousing speech to world leaders as he played to crowds at a gig in Gateshead on Friday.

The young campaigner says ‘Right Here, Right Now’ just as Thunberg does in her speech at the United Nation headquarters in New York.

During the song, Thunberg’s voice can be heard saying: ‘People are dying. Entire ecosystems are collapsing. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction.

‘And all you can talk about is money. You are failing us, and the young people are starting to understand your betrayal. The eyes of all future generations are upon you.

‘We will not let you get away with this. Right here, right now is where we draw the line. The world is waking up. And change is coming, whether you like it or not.’

The 56-year-old DJ continued to use the clip throughout the song, to cheers from the audience.

He shared a clip of the mash-up on social media with the caption: ‘Right Here, Right Now… Greta Thunberg’, followed by an earth emoji.

Scott Jackson, 40, of Middlesbrough, filmed Fatboy Slim incorporating Thunberg’s speech in Gateshead.

He told The Guardian: ‘The mash-up is superb. The way she says ‘right here, right now’ fits his original perfectly.’

‘The crowd could sense something special was in the air as it started, sensing something big was about to go down and it certainly did!’

Inspired by Thunberg’s solitary weekly protest outside the Swedish parliament a year ago, millions of people have since poured onto the streets around the globe to demand governments take emergency action on climate change.

She has been tipped for the Nobel Peace Prize after encouraging schoolchildren to walk out of their classrooms every Friday in a firm stance on the environment.

Images of her scowling at US Presidnet Donald Trump at the UN summit in New York, which she sailed to in a yacht to avoid taking a plane, were shared worldwide.

He said in a tweet after her speech: ‘She seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future. So nice to see!’
