Biden Reportedly Preparing $3 Trillion Spending Package

President Joe Biden’s team is reportedly planning on introducing a $3 trillion jobs and infrastructure proposal to the president this week, according to reports.

The proposal would be presented in two parts– one focused on infrastructure and clean energy and the other on domestic issues, according to CNN, who was briefed on the matter by two unidentified people.

“President Biden’s plan represents a stunning shift in priorities, addressing many of the nation’s most pressing challenges,” Senior Fellow at the liberal Center for American Progress think tank Seth Hanlon said, according to The New York Times (NYT). “As reported, the plan is very wide-ranging, reflecting the fact that we’ve underinvested in so many areas.”

Some of the proposals included in one of the packages would be free community college, universal pre-k and a nationwide paid leave program, according to the NYT.

The infrastructure plan would focus on developing “high-growth industries of the future” and includes money for training workers as the U.S. job sphere evolves, according to the report. The plan would also invest approximately $1 trillion in construction of roads, bridges, rail lines, ports and power sectors, according to the report.

The proposals fall in line with Biden’s campaign promise to “build back better” by investing in infrastructure and creating jobs.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell warned the infrastructure package could actually just bring massive tax hikes while speaking on the floor Monday, according to The Wall Street Journal.

“We’re hearing the next few months might bring a so-called ‘infrastructure’ proposal that may actually be a Trojan horse for massive tax hikes and other job-killing left-wing policies.”

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki confirmed on Twitter that Biden is focused on rebuilding the nation, but would not offer details on whether the reports were accurate. (RELATED: Here’s How The Economy Could Be Rebuilt, According To Chamber Of Commerce, 140 Trade Groups)

“Relief is headed out the door thanks to the American Rescue Plan and @potus is focused on building our economy back better, and ideas he talked about on the campaign trail, from investing in infrastructure to care giving, to making sure the tax code rewards work and not wealth.”

“Focus will be on jobs and making life better for Americans,” Psaki tweeted. “But speculation is premature, given @POTUS does not plan to lay out additional details this week.”
