The world’s eyes are on the G20 Summit taking place in Russia. Although the Syria crisis is not officially on the schedule, there is no doubt that the international response to chemical weapons assaults is being affected.
Meanwhile, Israel remains squarely in the crossfire of threatened retaliation if the U.S. – or an international coalition – strikes Syria.
This is no time to mince words or back down from our nation’s commitment to our most staunch ally in the Middle East in spite of President Barack Obama’s incoherent and badly executed policy in the region.
The Middle East has been significantly destabilized in recent weeks. Syria, Jordan, Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Egypt, and Israel are all engaged in, or are preparing for, potentially catastrophic conflicts. The entire region is a powder keg waiting for a match to strike.
President Obama took center stage today at the G20 Summit to rally support for his call to arms against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his government with hopes that a “shot across the bow” will stop the atrocities taking place there.
Right now, the debate focuses upon who the chemical attackers actually were – the government, rebel forces, or outsiders. Surprisingly, many in Barack Obama’s liberal base believe he and John Kerry are lying about the attack details to cover up the President’s failed policies. Not surprisingly, Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared that John Kerry is lying.
Many leaders of the international community say there are more questions than answers – and most say military action is not the proper solution.
Yet, President Obama believes he knows better than the other world leaders.
Despite his rhetoric that he didn’t draw the “red line” in justifying a military response over the use of chemical weapons, the President asserts that action must be taken to protect the credibility of the international communities, the United States, and the United States Congress.
In response to mounting criticism, President Obama contends his “credibility is not on the line,” but Congress drew the line. Or perhaps it was the international community’s “red line” when it banned the use of chemical weapons after World War I.
Once again, as we have become accustomed with our Teflon President, the buck never stops with him!
++Israel is squarely in the crossfire of this conflict.
Since the start of talk about military intervention, Syria and Iraq have both threatened to attack Israel if the United States and/or international alliances retaliate against the Syrian government.
As reported in The Times of Israel…
“Khalaf Muftah, a senior Baath Party official, warned that ‘if the US or Israel makes the mistake of taking advantage of the chemical issue… the region will go up in flames… that will affect security not only in the region but across the world.’
‘No military attack will be waged against Syria,” said Hossein Sheikholeslam, a member of Iran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly. ‘Yet, if such an incident takes place, which is impossible, the Zionist regime will be the first victim of a military attack on Syria.’”
Israel has reportedly been taking intense security precautions. “Our hand is always on the pulse,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday. “Our finger is a responsible one and if needed, is on the trigger. We will always know how to protect our citizens and our country against those who come to injure us or try to attack us.”
Syria’s leaders also defiantly declared, “The Syrian government will not change position even if there is World War III.”
Israeli leaders are already being forced to deal with the fallout from any potential intervention in Syria, in the same way in which they have been continually disadvantaged by Barack Obama’s incoherent and badly executed policy in the region.
Our current administration’s failed Middle East policies have already resulted in shed American blood, escalating violence, strong anti-American sentiment, and the threat of total chaos in the Middle East.
That’s why we are delivering this message of loyalty and support to our most staunch Middle East ally: We Stand United with Israel!
Our contacts in Israel emphasize that the slightest spark right now could ignite a Middle East conflict of epic proportions – one which Syria or Iran would use as “political cover” to attack Israel.
But whatever the developments may be, Liberty Counsel has repeatedly vowed to stand with Israel! That will certainly not change if open warfare erupts in the region.
The bottom line: The Middle East is facing a meltdown of epic proportions – and Israel remains at the epicenter of the conflict. Israelis need friends to stand with them!
++We MUST stand with Israel!
We have written an open letter which will be delivered to Prime Minister Netanyahu, Secretary of State John Kerry, U.N. Ambassador Samantha Power, and seven key American congressional leaders. We believe the letter will be widely distributed among the senior Israeli leadership, as well.

Even if you have signed our pro-Israel petitions and letters before, please take a moment right now and add your name to this time-critical, focused letter.
We know from our many contacts with senior members of the Israeli government that specific, timely messages of support from American friends have a tremendously positive impact!
Liberty Counsel supports Israel for biblical and national security reasons. Israel is a Middle East bastion of democracy and individual freedom and is the birthplace of the Judeo-Christian concept of the rule of law – which, in turn, became the foundation of America and Western Civilization.
As I have discussed with Prime Minister Netanyahu, the United States and Israel are the pillars of Western Civilization and our nations’ fates are inextricably linked. We MUST stand with Israel!
Please take a moment right now and join Liberty Counsel in encouraging key leaders in Israel and the United States that American citizens stand with Israel, regardless of what misguided policies the Obama Administration, Congress or the international communities may adopt!
