It has been widely discussed during the Syrian crisis that President Obama leads from behind. His incoherent foreign policy is certainly a case in point, wreaking havoc on the Middle East and putting Israel precariously is in the crosshairs of the fallout of America’s bad choices.
Today, President Obama is being lectured by world leaders, including, of all people, Russian President Vladimir Putin. Our president is being “schooled” by a communist dictator on, of all things, foreign policy leadership!
Who are we to believe? A former KGB agent turned politician or a president who has repeatedly deceived and distracted his own people for political gain?
In the book Leading From Behind: The Reluctant President and The Advisors Who Decide For Him, author Richard Miniter boldly examines the flawed leadership of President Obama. Here is a passage from the book…
“Contrary to the White House narrative, which aims to define Obama as a visionary leader, Leading from Behind reveals a president who is indecisive, moody, and often paralyzed by competing political considerations.
Many victories – as well as several significant failures – during the Obama presidency are revealed to be the work of strong women, who led when the president did not: then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi; Secretary of State Hillary Clinton; and Valerie Jarrett, his closest adviser and an Obama family confidante, whose unusual degree of influence has been a source of conflict with veteran political insiders.”
Miniter isn’t alone in his assessment. Yesterday, former New York Governor George Pataki told Newsmax TV that “President Barack Obama continues to ‘lead from behind’ while al-Qaida has ‘morphed into a dangerous organization’ that is no longer on the run.”
A recent headline by The Telegraph declared, “Barack Obama is leading from behind in Syria – and can’t see where he is going.”
Today, in a New York Times op-ed, Russian President Vladimir Putin took his Syrian crisis case into America’s public arena in what can only be perceived as a slam against President Obama’s incoherent foreign policy…
“A [military strike against Syria] would increase violence and unleash a new wave of terrorism. It could undermine multilateral efforts to resolve the Iranian nuclear problem and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and further destabilize the Middle East and North Africa. It could throw the entire system of international law and order out of balance.
No one doubts that poison gas was used in Syria. But there is every reason to believe it was used not by the Syrian Army, but by opposition forces, to provoke intervention by their powerful foreign patrons, who would be siding with the fundamentalists. Reports that militants are preparing another attack — this time against Israel — cannot be ignored.” (emphasis added)
Columnist Peggy Noonan also wrote in the WSJ…
“[Obama] got himself into it and now Vladimir Putin, who opposes U.S. policy in Syria and repeatedly opposed a strike, is getting him out. This would be coldly satisfying for Putin and no doubt personally galling for Obama – another reason he can’t look as if he’s lunging.”
In a USA Today article yesterday, Efraim Karsh, a professor of Middle Eastern Studies at Kings College, London, said…
“Obama is viewed in the Middle East as a weak president and this is an opportunity for Russia to reassert some of its influence at the West’s expense.”
An increasing number of observers feel that the Obama administration’s failed Middle East foreign policies and sponsorship of radical Muslim factions have been instrumental in causing the threat of total chaos and instability in the Middle East.
The bottom line: President Obama is most assuredly a “lead from behind” President and “weak” on foreign policy. Quite frankly, I believe he is in way over his head in foreign policy and demonstrates it by supporting the wrong elements in the Middle East.
We MUST tell Congress and Israeli leaders that we steadfastly stand with Israel in spite of Obama’s posturing!
Our open letter to Israeli and American leadership makes a bold declaration that we, citizens of the United States, will stand united with Israel, regardless of the bungling and disjointed foreign policy our elected leaders are foisting on the Middle East. ++Is a Middle East explosion imminent?
As I wrote a few days ago, the possibility of a complete Middle East meltdown increases with every verbal salvo launched by the Obama administration and gainsaid by Russian, Syrian, and Iranian leaders.
Who has remained quiet in the clamorous volleys of accusations and angry rebuttals on the world stage? Israel’s leaders, including Benjamin Netanyahu, with whom Obama has had less than warm interactions.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly told his administration to remain silent on pressuring the United States to take action one way or another for fear of further negative effects from U.S. “diplomacy.”
Meanwhile, threats loom on all sides of Israel. If the United States uses military force against Syrian President Assad, both Iranian and Syrian leaders have threatened retaliation strikes against Israel.
If the Assad government is toppled, a U.S.-backed “moderate” Syrian rebel commander has declared that, “Israel is an enemy country.”
Israel is taking all necessary precautions. Even today, three errant missiles from the Syrian civil war landed in the Golan Heights.
This is a strategic time for the nation of Israel and its leaders – a time which will have eternal significance for the Jewish people and every other nation in the world.
Will you stand with Israel – without any political motivation?
Even if you have signed our pro-Israel petitions and letters before, please take a moment right now and add your name to this time-critical, focused letter.

P.S. The resounding problem is a credibility issue that plagues Barack Obama internationally and domestically. He is widely considered to be a weak leader and that fact is impacting the dominant nations’ planning and strategies, especially Vladimir Putin’s Russia.
The decisions to come in the international communities will most assuredly impact Israel!
Please take a moment today and tell the world, “Israel, you’re not alone. We stand united with you!”
