NEW YORK – CinemaScore, a movie rating system known for predicting the commercial success of feature films, has just given Dinesh D’Souza’s “America” an “A+” rating, predicting the film has a high probability of experiencing a very profitable run.

The July 4 weekend also marks the first time D’Souza’s book “America” has topped Hillary Clinton’s “Hard Choices” on Amazon.com, with “America” ranked the 26th most popular selling book, versus “Hard Choices” at No. 56 as of 5:00 p.m. ET on July 5.

With representatives in 25 large cities across the nation, CinemaScope typically surveys movies by releasing score-cards to a sample of movie-goers to obtain their reaction to newly released films.

A grade of “A+” as received by D’Souza’s “America,” is considered rare, typically awarded only to films that tend to be not only successful at the box office, but also successful as Academy Award nominees.

Early reports from its debut weekend already indicate Dinesh D’Souza’s new documentary “America” is opening with a strong box office nationwide.

Preliminary box-office counts indicate “America” is overall No. 3 in per screen average attendance in the United States and No. 10 in overall box-office receipts, a position considered strong in that “America” is opening on only 1,000 screens nationwide, in competition with films opening on more than 3,000 screens.

Box-office returns for “America” on Friday were up 60 percent from Thursday, with competitors, “Tammy” up only 17 percent, “Earth to Echo” up 5 percent and “Deliver Us From Evil” down 5 percent.

“I am delighted to hear that America is performing so well, especially on the 4th of July, the day that gave birth to our great nation,” the film’s producer, Gerald Molen, told WND. “I am hearing reports that moviegoers are in tears and that they are spontaneously singing the national anthem at the end of the movie. These reports make all of our hard work worthwhile. I hope this trend continues and that we can send a powerful message to the country through strong box-office reports.”
