A Liberal Democrat’s View of Islam…

77 bombing

I get a lot of mail, and much as I wish could share more with you, I would be remiss if I didn’t post this email.

Ms. Geller,

First, I wanted to thank you for coining “In a battle between a savage and a civilized man…”, as I feel it succinctly sums up everything at stake. At the end of the day, we might not see eye to eye on many issues, but I respect your opinions. Its tolerance. Its the golden rule. Its the bedrock of western society. We can agree, disagree, vote, debate and argue, if a law is written that we oppose, we can petition the government for its removal. We can engage in other forms of protest. That’s democracy, that’s America.

The reason I’m writing to you is I just had the opportunity to watch your address to the Sugar Land Tea-Party. Like many liberals, I was initially opposed to your opposition of the ground zero mosque. After listening to you, and considering history, I now wholeheartedly agree with you, and even though I never liked the idea of a ground zero mosque, or cultural center, and your point about its name “Cordoba” didn’t fall on deaf ears.

I started doing some research and watching presentations by yourself, Christopher Hitchens, Richard Dawkins, Dr. Bill Warner, and others. Why? Because after reading about last week’s revelation about as many as 1400 schoolgirls in one town in England being sold into the sex trade, with officials being afraid to give “oxygen to racists”. Then, a few days later, a Danish man who said islam was violent was paradoxically proven right when he was hospitalized after a brutal assault, by guess who, muslim asylum seekers. All of this just days after a brutal assault on Parliament Hill. And personally, if Islamic terror attacks are so rare, and so distant, then why did I have two near misses with being a victim myself? (I was actually in the World Trade Center just days before 9/11, and then was in London shortly before 7/7).

So I wanted to thank you for doing what I cannot. I cannot publicly speak these opinions, I’d be out of a job. What I am doing is pointing out on places like Reddit and other websites, that cultural relativism is obsolete and cannot be used to judge islam, and that the one cannot hold themselves out to be a progressive, a liberal, a feminist, a secular humanist, or any of these things, and support islam. Islam, as written in the qu’ran, supports slavery, pedophilia, murder, rape, dismemberment, honor killings, crimes against humanity, and was successful in doing to Zoroastrianism what they now want to do to Hindus, Christians, Jews and Atheists. To truly be tolerant you cannot give the intolerant any quarter.

Best Wishes,

XXXXXXXX
