The father of murdered Democrat National Committee staffer Seth Rich told the U.K. Daily Mail that his son was about to move to Brooklyn to work on Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, sparking more speculation about Rich’s death from conspiracy theorists.
Rich was shot in Washington, D.C., on July 10 in what authorities described as a botched robbery. It initially got little attention until WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange implied in an interview that Rich may have been a WikiLeaks asset.
“Whistleblowers often take very significant efforts to bring us material and often at very significant risks,” Assange said. “There’s a 27-year-old who works for the DNC and who was shot in the back, murdered, just a few weeks ago, for unknown reasons as he was walking down the streets in Washington.”
“Because we have to understand how high the stakes are in the United States,” Assange continued. “Our sources face serious risks. That’s why they come to us. So we can protect their anonymity.”
“I think it is a concerning situation,” he added. “There isn’t a conclusion yet. We wouldn’t be willing to state a conclusion. But we are concerned about it. More importantly, a variety of WikiLeaks sources are concerned when that kind of thing happens.”
This raised speculation that Rich had been the source of the DNC email leaks, something that’s bound to intensify after what Rich’s father said in the interview.
“He’d worked on Senate and House campaigns but he’d always wanted to work on a presidential campaign,” Joel Rich said. “He had just found out they wanted him and he was probably going to be moving up to Brooklyn through the election. He was really excited about that.”
This is definitely going to thicken the plot for those who think that some form of political intrigue is afoot.
It is, of course, unlikely. However, the very fact that we’re even considering the fact that Hillary Clinton might do this proves how Nixonian the Democrat nominee truly is.
