Remember when Orlando terrorist Omar Mateen’s wife suddenly disappeared after the terrorist executed the massacre at the Orlando gay night club?

Guess what? The wife and mother of Ahmad Rahami, the alleged bomber of the Chelsea neighborhood in Manhattan that injured 29 people, have disappeared.

According to CNN, “Rahami’s wife left the United States a few days before this weekend’s bombings, and US officials want to speak with her …  authorities are working with officials in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates to gain access to her.”

According to the Daily Mail, Rahami’s mother left for Turkey roughly three weeks ago; his wife but was stopped by officials in the United Arab Emirates on Monday en route to Pakistan, although it is in doubt whether she was allowed to travel on to Pakistan, was held in the UAE or returned to the U.S, as reported by The Los Angeles Times.

Rahami’s possible ties with terrorist groups are being investigated. His notebook referred to Yemeni-American cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, a spokesman for al Qaeda before a CIA drone strike killed him in 2011. Born in Afghanistan, he often returned there; his wife is from Pakistan. According to the Afghan Taliban, they had nothing to do with Rahami. Rahami spent a year between 2013 and 2014 in the Pakistani city of Quetta, an extremist outlet.

Former New York state homeland security adviser Michael Balboni told CNN Rahami “didn’t have a plan B or a plan C … This has the flavor of someone who was self-radicalized and perhaps who was inspired but not instructed.”

According to a law enforcement official, Rahami first came to the United States in January 1995, was given a US passport in 2003, and another in 2007 after he said he lost his first one. He became a naturalized US citizen in 2011.

Rahami was arrested around 11 a.m. on Monday in Linden, New Jersey. He fired two shots at police, hitting one of them. Officers Angel Padilla, Peter Hammer and Mark Kahana were all injured until one officer shot Rahami; he was handcuffed to a stretcher and transported by an ambulance. No officer suffered a critical injury.

One childhood friend of Rahami’s told the Boston Herald that Rahami was radicalized after a trip to Afgnahistan. Flee Jones said, “At one point he left to go to Afghanistan, and two years ago he came back, popped up out of nowhere and he was real religious.  It was shocking. I’m trying to understand what’s going on. I’ve never seen him like this.”
