No Show: Top Clinton Aide Who Set Up Hillary’s Private Server Refuses to Testify

1

Top Clinton aide Brian Pagliano, the man who set up former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s private server, refused to testify Tuesday in front of the House Oversight Committee despite being issued a congressional subpoena.

The Committee is looking into the deletion of Clinton’s emails and the failure of the State Department and Platte River Networks to preserve her email archive. Pagliano’s attorneys sent a letter to the Committee, saying Pagliano will not testify and accused Committee members of holding the hearing for political reasons.

In the past, Pagliano plead the Fifth twice in refusal to testify about the server despite being given immunity by the FBI during the criminal investigation into Clinton’s email practices.

“Let the record reflect that Mr. Pagliano is not present at the witness table,” Oversight Chairman Jason Chaffetz said Tuesday. “Mr. Pagliano has decided to disobey subpoena.”

“You’d think someone would sing like a songbird if they were given immunity by the FBI,” Chaffetz continued. “When you are server a subpoena from the United States Congress, that is not optional and he is not here today.”

Chaffetz added he will look into all options, including contempt of Congress charges, in order to hold Pagliano accountable for failing to appear.

Platte River Networks employees Bill Thornton and Paul Combetta and Clinton aide Jason Cooper did appear at the witness table.
