On Nov. 16 people in the Denver metropolitan area saw a white, four-engined aircraft performing a racetrack for several times over Colorado before heading to Oklahoma. The aircraft could be tracked online on Flightradar24.com by means of ADS-B using callsign Iron 99. – The Aviationist
The aircraft an E-6B Mercury built on the Boeing 707 airframe which uses a B737 cockpit â usually launched at the outbreak of a nuclear attack and has the capability to launch nuclear missiles and become a flying command center – was spotted circling by thousands of US citizens on the ground.
The large Navy plane also known as a Doomsday Plane, traveled across several states and changed directions numerous times, prompting a Twitter frenzy of conspiracy theories.
The plane took off from close to San Diego and veered towards the Pacific Ocean before turning around to circle over Denver in Colorado for an hour.
The over $100 million aircraft eventually landed at the United States Navy Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma several hours later.
One TV anchor ABC 7 in Denver, Colorado brought up the strange sight during a broadcast.
She said: “There was this plane just circling the metro, circling and circling, and many of you called us asking what was going on.”
The newscaster added that Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), U.S. Northern Command (NORTHCOM), U.S. Strategic Command (STRATCOM) and the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) could not confirm the flight.
Officials at nearly a dozen air force bases claimed the aircraft never checked in with their traffic control towers.
A plane shrouded in mystery captured the attention of thousands on Wednesday. Nobody knew why a high-altitude plane circled the City of Denver for hours. Now the Navy has some answers.
Denver7 tracked IRON99 as it traveled from the West Coast to Oklahoma, where it eventually landed at Tinker Air Force Base, however it spent roughly an hour in Denver, circling in a racetrack-style holding pattern over the city.
11/21/16Â An astonishing Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) report circulating in the Kremlin today states that US Navy Admiral Mike Rogers, who heads the Obama National Security Agency (NSA), United States Cyber Command (USCYBERCOM) and is the Chief of the Central Security Service (CSS), fled to New York City on Thursday (17 November) seeking an urgent meeting with President-elect Donald Trump just hours after he, Rogers, single handedly aborted the unauthorized flight of the âDoomsday Planeâ.
According to this report, during the late afternoon (Moscow time) of 16 November, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) requested urgent âassistance/guidanceâ from the SVR relating to the takeoff from Californiaâs Travis Air Force Base (TAFB) of a US Navy Boeing E-6 Mercury airborne command post and communications relay aircraft (popularly known as a âDoomsday Planeâ) that was designated with the radio call sign of âIRON99â, and whose destination was not able to be determined.
The flights of these types of âdoomsdayâ aircraft, this report explains, are strictly âgoverned/observedâ under the procedures, protocols and guidelines of the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (New START) signed between the Federation and the Obama regime that took effect on 5 February 2011âand that this âIRON99â doomsday plane flight was in âstrict/blatantâ violation of due to the US failing to notify the MoD of its exact mission status.
On a possibly related event and unusual move, the National Security Agency Director, Admiral Michael Rogers traveled to New York City on Thursday to meet with Trump without notifying superiors.
Senior defense and intelligence officials have recommended to President Obama the removal National Security Agency Director Adm. Michael Rogers from office over concerns of his performance, according to U.S. officials familiar with the matter.
The proposal, put forth by Defense Secretary Ash Carter and Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, was delivered to the White House last month and comes as President-elect Donald Trump considers Rogers for a senior intelligence post in his administration, the Wall Street Journal reported Sunday night.
Obama declined to comment on the reports Sunday, but called Rogers a âterrific patriotâ during a news conference at an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Lima, Peru.
Administration officials told the Washington Post that the removal has been delayed because part of the recommendation from Carter and Clapper includes the controversial move of separating the commands of the NSA and the U.S. Cyber Command, both of which are headed by Rogers.
The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday that Rogers was the leading candidate to succeed Clapper as head of the DNI, which is tasked with overseeing all 17 U.S. intelligence agencies.
Admiral Michael Rogers met with Trump without notifying superiors. Neither Rogers nor the Trump transition team have commented on the meeting.
