In a town hall event on Wednesday, CNN anchor Anderson Cooper nailed former FBI Director James Comey for leaking classified information to a friend of his, something that Comey struggled to explain.
“So you did leak memos,” Cooper said to Comey. “Is it okay for somebody at the FBI to leak something, an internal document, even if it’s not classified? Isn’t that leaking?”
Comey responded with a lie, claiming that he never leaked any memos, despite the fact that he leaked two classified memos, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal.
“There is a whole lot wrong with your question, Anderson. First, I didn’t leak memos. I asked a friend to communicate the substance of one unclassified memo to the media.”
Comey proceeded to struggle in answering Cooper’s questions, especially when Cooper asked him, “Shouldn’t you be nailed to the door then? Aren’t you a leaker?”
