President Donald Trump stated Thursday morning that all charges raised against Gen. Mike Flynn, his former National Security Adviser, should be dropped.

Trump, in a serious of tweets, referenced the exculpatory evidence released by Flynn’s attorney Sidney Powell on Wednesday, which appears to show Federal Bureau of Investigation officials debating how to entrap Flynn.

“Does anybody really believe that Roger Stone, a man whose house was raided early in the morning by 29 gun toting FBI Agents (with Fake News @CNN closely in toe), was treated fairly,” he wrote. “Same scammers as General Flynn!”

“What happened to General Michael Flynn, a war hero, should never be allowed to happen to a citizen of the United States again,” he added in a follow-up tweet.

He also retweeted several tweets on the subject, including one from his son, Donald Trump Jr., asserting that the charges against Flynn should be dropped and “the treasonous actors who set him up should be in jail.”

The notes released by Powell Wednesday, which she claimed show a “deliberate attack” on Flynn, detailed FBI officials discussing what the goal of his official interview would be, with one option stated as “get him to lie.” (RELATED: FBI Official Questioned Whether Goal Of Michael Flynn Interview Was ‘To Get Him To Lie’)

The notes were uncovered by the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri after Attorney General Bill Barr directed him to review Flynn’s case. They were delivered to Powell under seal this past Friday, and sources told Daily Caller that FBI Director Christopher Wray and general counsel Dana Boente sought to prevent the notes from being uncovered by the Justice Department.
