Texas A&M assistant coach Terry Price dead at 55

Longtime Texas A&M University assistant coach Terry Price died at 55 on Friday, the school announced.

Price, who played with the Aggies from 1986-1989 and won two Southwest Conference titles, had worked at College Station as a defensive line coach for the last 11 years.

There was no cause of death given.

“A legend on the playing field and the sidelines, it is with heavy hearts we mourn the loss of Terry Price and offer our deepest condolences to Coach Price’s family and friends,” the Aggies tweeted Friday.

After his time playing college football, Price was drafted in the 10th round of the 1990 NFL Draft by the Bears, playing two games with Chicago.

He quickly transitioned into coaching, spending two seasons back with Texas A&M before going to Western Kentucky.

Price then spent a long tenure in the SEC, coaching at Ole Miss (1995-98, 2009-11) and Auburn (1999-2008) before coming back to Texas A&M in 2011.

He was known as a solid recruiter and helped coach and develop linemen such as Myles Garrett and Justin Madubuike.

“Terry was not only a great Aggie, football coach and recruiter, he was an even better husband, father and man,” head coach Jimbo Fisher said in a statement. “The impact he had on this program and his players is immeasurable. Our football family has suffered an incredible loss. We will continue to hold Kenya and the boys in our thoughts and prayers.”

Price is survived by his wife and two children.
