Kelly Ripa Sends ‘Live’ Audience Into Hysterics With NSFW Joke About Mark Consuelos’ “Major” Injury: “Just the Tip?”

Live with Kelly & Mark Season 36 is already off to a hilarious (and raunchy) start as Kelly Ripa poked fun at the “major injury” Mark Consuelos suffered while they were on vacation.

During this morning’s opening chat, the Riverdale alum — who sported a small cast on his finger — opened up about the “embarrassing” mishap that led to his injury.

“It’s so embarrassing. I was playing volleyball — beach volleyball,” he explained. “I went to set a ball and I felt it hit my finger just a little strange and my finger, at the tip, was at a right angle. It just stayed like that.”

Meanwhile, Ripa couldn’t help but make an NSFW joke regarding her husband’s recollection of events.

“Just the tip?” she followed up with a wink, sending both the audience and Consuelos into hysterics. “That’s for you girls in the front row.”

Consuelos noted that he tried to “straighten [the finger] out” at the time but it would “just go back to half-mast,” leaving Ripa to quip, “This is all a metaphor.”

The actor eventually went to the doctor and learned that he had “mallet finger” — which is a rip in the tendon. And according to Ripa, “mallet finger became our entire vacation” as Consuelos refused to leave it alone after the doctors had wrapped it up and, instead, had to “redress the wound every 15 to 20 minutes.”

“Nobody loves an injury more than Mark. The trip went from us being on vacation to us tending to Mark’s finger,” she said, to which he replied, “I use my hands a lot at work. Could you imagine if I had a crooked finger up here like that? It would be very distracting to you.”

While Consuelos said there was “no pain” when the injury happened, he does have to wear a cast for eight weeks. So, like Ripa, we will just have to get used to seeing the extra garb on Consuelos for the coming weeks.
