What Is The ‘Shōgun’ Episode 10 Release Date? “A Dream of a Dream” Trailer, Streaming Time, Channel & More

Are you ready for FX‘s Shōgun to finally end? Or hoping that the epic ride never ends? Alas, this week’s all new episode of Shōgun — Shōgun Episode 10 “A Dream of a Dream” — is the show’s finale. After two months of watching John Blackthorne (Cosmo Jarvis) survive in feudal Japan against all odds, Toranaga (Hiroyuki Sanada) repeatedly outmaneuver his rivals, and Mariko (Anna Sawai) simply being the best, it’s time to learn how this story ends. Will Mariko be the only hero sacrificed for Toranaga’s dream? Will Toranaga be able to outwit Ishido (Takehiro Hira) and Lady Ochiba (Fumi Nikaido)? Will Blackthorne ever make it back to his, uh, wife and children in England? How exactly will Shōgun end? More importantly: when does the Shōgun finale come out??

Shōgun is FX’s grand, modern adaptation of James Clavell’s bestselling 1975 novel of the same name. The story is loosely based on the true story of Elizabethan-era navigator William Adams, who finds himself in Japan at the dawn of the Edo era. Shōgun instead follows the ambitious John Blackthorne, who seeks to forge an alliance with the Japanese lord Toranaga so he can bring the wealth of the East to his Protestant queen. However, Blackthorne soon finds himself pulled into Toranaga’s far more complex game of strategy, one in which he is reluctantly made both samurai and hatamoto. More importantly, though, Blackthorne falls in love with Mariko, the married woman assigned to be his translator.

In last week’s episode of Shōgun, Mariko single-handedly rocked Ishido’s grip on Osaka by attempting to leave the city, proving she and every other lord and lady there were, in fact, hostages. Although he deftly prevented Mariko from martyring herself via seppuku, Ishido’s plan to capture her failed, resulting in her death.

So what happens now? How can Toranaga still win? What will Blackthorne do? How does Shōgun end? When will the next episode of Shōgun, the Shōgun finale, be on FX and Hulu?

Will There Be a Shōgun Season 2?

Probably not! Shōgun is based entirely on the 1975 novel by James Clavell and the whole first season of the series covers the plot of the book.

That said, Shōgun is one of six books in Clavell’s “Asian Saga,” covering various pressure points of Asian history. It’s possible that we might see an adaptation of one of these books in the future, but don’t bet on it.

Any continuation of Shōgun would likely take the form of a spin-off versus a second season.
